MultiCam represents an advanced camouflage pattern, engineered in 2002 by Crye Precision, a U.S.-based company, in collaboration with the United States Army Soldier Systems Center (Natick Labs) as an element of the Objective Force Warrior initiative. The primary aim was the development of a highly adaptable camouflage pattern that provides effective concealment across diverse terrains and under fluctuating environmental circumstances. Featuring a palette of seven distinct colors, the MultiCam pattern incorporates smooth gradient transitions among various greens, browns, and beiges. These transitions enable it to seamlessly blend with its surroundings, taking on greenish hues in wooded settings and shifting to browns and beiges in arid or desert locales—particularly excelling during autumn or where vegetation is dry in Central and Eastern Europe. MultiCam has achieved global acclaim, being adopted by numerous military and special operations units. In 2010, the United States Army selected this camouflage as the standard issue for troops operating in Afghanistan, superseding the former Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP).
