The baton is well made, except for one detail - the aluminum slider that serves as protection against accidental unfolding. It's too loose. Other than that, it's okay. A note for people who complain about difficult folding: if you fold and unfold it for fun in the kitchen, it can indeed be annoying. When should you really unfold a baton and what does self-defense look like according to the courts? If you see a threat: 1. Run away 2. If you can't run, try to defuse the conflict 3. If you can't run or defuse the situation, defend yourself conventionally 4. Only if your life or health is at risk, you might unfold such a baton So a normal person will unfold this baton once or twice in a lifetime. Unless they're from Radom or Sosnowiec, but there, people don't buy batons for self-defense. For training on a tree - a pipe is enough. I recommend the baton, at this price it is a good buy.
GS Automatic Hardened Expandable Baton 21" - Black
Automatically deployable expandable baton measuring 21 inches (52 cm) in length. Standout features consist of a steel cap at the end of the handle and a steel ring at the section joints—elements not commonly found in batons within this price range.
The baton is constructed from four hardened steel segments, with the initial segment forming the base for the handle, which features plastic scales with a non-slip textured surface.
Equipped with a safety lock that prevents accidental deployment, located on the extension lever. To open the baton, slide the lock and press the lever on the handle. To close, press the lever and strike the baton against a solid surface.
Baton extends from 21.5 to 52 cm in length.

I do not recommend this baton. I have 3 others, and this is definitely the worst. The automatic opening mechanism is not well finished and actually poses a risk of cutting and scraping your hand. On the other hand, using it with gloves is not very convenient due to the small locking slider. But that's not all. It unfolds smoothly, but folding it is almost impossible. You have to hit it really hard to close it, which is not safe for your hands because of the locking handle. Basically, once you open it you might as well keep it under the bed or under the car seat ;) because you might not be able to close it outdoors. The only advantage is the attachment for a string or carabiner, but I will probably return it if I manage to fold it.

I do not recommend it, after just a few blows to a medium-thick alder branch, it bent in two places so it couldn't be folded; after a few attempts to straighten it, I managed to fold it but then it couldn't be opened again.

I've had it for 2 years, used it a few times, luckily only to scare off. Very solid steel and even after this time it snaps open as it did right after purchase.
-
The baton is very difficult to fold, and you can easily cut your hand on the safety. For work, I recommend the traditional folding ones.
-
Nice, only hard to fold.
-
The baton opens smoothly. It closes just as hard as any other. You just have to hit it hard on the ground. I recommend it.
-
Hard to close... otherwise fine.
-
As described, I recommend it.

Product as described and as expected. I recommend it.

It's really hard to close, you have to hit it hard – maybe even a bit too hard. But there are no problems with opening or holding it, and it fits well in the hand. Luckily, I haven’t had to test it in practice yet, but it seems solid.

Very good telescopic baton. Opens nicely. I recommend it.

An interesting model of baton, light and handy. Additionally, a strap holder for carrying. That’s the positives... A minor downside is that folding the baton is very difficult, the closure is hard but maybe it will loosen up. I recommend it.

I recommend it. Sturdy and durable. In my case, it is great as possible protection against dogs while running in the forest and parks. The only element that needs improvement is the safety lock, which could be harder to open. It moves too easily, but in the holster there’s no way it will open.
