Helikon-Tex Guardian Smallpack Backpack 7,5 l IRR - wz.93 Pantera PL Woodland

Backpack in wz. 93 Pantera PL Woodland camouflage with a capacity of 7.5 liters. Made of damage-resistant 500d cordura with IRR/NIR properties that reduce the contrast of the material in near infrared. It can be attached directly to the Guardian Plate Carrier tactical vest.

It is made of 500d cordura with a 225 g/m2 grammage. The material is characterized by high resistance to abrasion and mechanical damage, thanks to which it withstands intensive use well.

The outer surface is protected with a hydrophobic DWR coating, which limits the soaking of the material and makes it easier to clean. The applied IRR/NIR properties reduce the reflection of infrared radiation from the surface of the material, making the vest less contrasting during observation using devices operating in near infrared.

Spacious main compartment, internal VIS panel, front pocket

For carrying basic equipment, there is a spacious main compartment closed with two-way YKK zippers. The zippers allow the backpack to be opened wide and provide better access to the carried contents. Inside the compartment there is a VIS panel enabling the attachment of additional inserts from the Versatile Insert System. On the front there is a smaller pocket closed with a zipper intended for smaller accessories. On the front panel there is velcro, to which Morale Patches or emblems can be attached.

MOLLE/PALS webbing, elastic cord

On the front and sides, webbing compatible with the MOLLE/PALS system has been sewn on, which allows the backpack to be expanded with additional pouches, pockets, pouches or other elements of accouterment. Additionally, at the bottom there is an elastic cord with a stopper that allows carrying, for example, a jacket or sleeping bag.

Adjustable shoulder straps, attachment to vest

The backpack carry system consists of adjustable shoulder straps with soft trim, which reduce the risk of chafing on the shoulders. Wide, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps distribute the weight evenly across the shoulders. Webbing has been sewn onto the shoulder straps, allowing the attachment of additional accouterment. Additionally, the Guardian Smallpack model is equipped with special webbing allowing the backpack to be attached to a tactical vest.

wz. 93 Pantera PL Woodland camouflage

The wz. 93 Pantera PL Woodland camouflage pattern is the camouflage currently used by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland - the first camouflage designed and introduced for widespread use in the Third Polish Republic. The 1993 pattern offers a combination of mimetic and deforming properties thanks to the use of irregular patches of different sizes. The color scheme based on green, brown and black has been adapted to the conditions of Polish forests, making “Pantera” a good choice for operations in local terrain. Uniforms in this camouflage are also basic equipment for students of Military Uniformed Classes.

PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) is a modular mounting system for pockets and pouches, used in the MOLLE system. It consists of horizontally sewn rows of 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide, fixed spacing webbing (such as on a backpack) and vertical webbing for attachment and threading (on a pocket). This system is usually equipped with snaps, which further secures the pinned items.

NIR (Near Infrared Reflectance)
NIR (Near Infrared Reflectance) is a material property of controlled reflection of radiation in the near-infrared (780-2500 nm) range, used primarily in tactical clothing and equipment. NIR-treated fabrics are designed to reduce the thermal emission and reflection of IR radiation, allowing the material's surface temperature to be kept close to ambient. This reduces the risk of detection of the wearer by electronic-optical surveillance systems, including night vision and infrared sensors. NIR technology significantly improves the effectiveness of camouflage in combat and low-light conditions.

    Very good patrol backpack for use under a vest. Thanks to the straps included, you can even convert it into a bicycle backpack for rides. Very spacious, it can fit food rations, a poncho or smaller items. Plus for the option to mount a water bladder and secure it with a clip.

    Perfect backpack for EDC. Let's start with the fact that it lacks small pockets, straps, etc. for little things, flashlights, or knives. There is a great solution for this: the Helikon EDC Insert Large - Olive Green pocket fits perfectly. You just need to attach it at the highest Velcro spot. It fits lots of gear. Underneath, you can still fit a small Mil-Tec first aid kit, a headlamp, paracord, and more. In the zipped pocket in the flap, you can fit a power bank, two cables, a notebook, and a pen. The material is sturdy Cordura. As for comfort, everyone has to assess for themselves. Personally, I haven't worn a backpack for many years, so I'm getting used to it. So, it's perfect for EDC—you just need to buy an extra pocket. I recommend it. I'm satisfied.

    Great backpack for the city and beyond. It's very well made. The material is durable and pleasant to the touch, which is rare. The biggest downside of this backpack is the lack of a handle, loop, or anything you could grab it by and carry without putting it on your back. However, you can make a handle yourself using paracord and a collision knot, which can be hidden under the backpack's material—very neat and invisible. The advantages are: It doesn’t make any noise during use, e.g., from rattling zippers or buckles. Dangling adjustment straps are held together with a good Velcro strap. There are hydration system ports on both sides of the backpack, but not at the top in the middle, which is strange. It's stiff, though not everywhere, as it doesn't need to be stiff in every spot. Advanced attachment system plus an elastic cord with a lock at the bottom of the backpack. Large Velcro strip additionally placed on the MOLLE system.

    I ordered the Helikon Guardian Smallpack backpack as a replacement for a waist bag and those 'men's' pouches. It is much more comfortable and doesn't get in the way of daily activities, plus it is much more spacious than those. For small items, water, etc., which you need in the summer, it's perfect.
