MultiCam represents an advanced camouflage design, engineered in 2002 by the US-based company Crye Precision in collaboration with the United States Army Soldier Systems Center (Natick Labs) under the Objective Force Warrior program. Its purpose was to deliver a highly adaptable camouflage solution, effective across diverse landscapes and variable environmental conditions. The MultiCam design features a palette of seven distinct colors that blend through gradient transitions across shades of green, brown, and beige. Such composition allows seamless adaptation to different environments, taking on green hues in forested surroundings or brown and beige tones in arid, desert terrains—proving especially effective during the autumn months and in dry vegetation areas of Central and Eastern Europe. MultiCam has achieved broad international acceptance and is deployed by a wide range of armed forces and elite units worldwide. In 2010, the US Army officially selected the camouflage for troops deployed in Afghanistan, making it the successor to the previous Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP).
