Helikon-Tex MCDU Polycotton Stretch Rip-Stop Pants - ERDL / Olive Green
ERDL camo tactical pants crafted from premium Polycotton stretch Rip-Stop fabric offer superior resistance to abrasions and tears, along with enhanced flexibility due to the inclusion of elastane. The design draws inspiration from Polish airborne forces’ military uniform trousers. Thanks to innovative tailoring, integrated elastic inserts, and advanced fabric composition, wearers benefit from outstanding freedom of movement and exceptional durability.
Rip-Stop fabric and elastic inserts
The primary fabric is a polycotton stretch blend (composed of 50% polyester, 48% cotton, and 2% elastane), known for its durability and flexibility, while the Rip-Stop weave offers superior resistance to tearing. Inserts made from highly breathable VersaStretch material are placed in the waistband, behind the knees, and in the crotch area to maximize freedom of movement.
Ventilation openings and Cordura inserts
Zippered ventilation openings are positioned along the sides of the legs to release excess heat, while integrated mesh panels provide added protection from insects. At knee level inside the legs, reinforced pockets crafted from highly durable 500D Cordura enable the placement of internal protectors.
12 spacious pockets
Outfitted with a total of 12 practical pockets
- two hip slit pockets
- two rear pockets
- two smaller pockets positioned above the cargo pockets
- two spacious front cargo pockets secured with zippers
- two large cargo pockets at the back featuring Velcro fastening
- two calf-height pockets with zipper closure
The edges of the hip pockets are reinforced with an extra fabric layer, extending their durability when carrying a knife or multitool
Waist adjustable with Velcro
Wide Velcro closures replace traditional buttons on the pants, facilitating precise waist adjustment and personalized fit to the wearer’s body. A zippered fly enhances convenience, while belt loops accommodate belts up to 40 mm in width.

ERDL camouflage
The ERDL (Engineer Research and Development Laboratory) camouflage pattern was created in 1948 by an American research institution. Its adoption became widespread during the Vietnam War in the 1960s, particularly among reconnaissance and special operations units. Many subsequent patterns, including the globally recognized Woodland and M81, were developed based on the ERDL design. Featuring a green and brown camouflage scheme, it proves highly effective in dense foliage, European broadleaf forests, thick undergrowth, and mixed woodlands.

VersaStretch is Helikon's proprietary fabric, characterized by high elasticity and lightness. The composition used is responsible for quick drying of the fabric and proper breathability.
The velcro panel is an area with sewn-on Velcro tape that allows easy attachment of various additional items, such as patches or pockets.
Cordura is a material woven from durable nylon fibers, developed by DuPont. The structure of the material provides lightness and abrasion resistance, as well as weather resistance. Due to its properties, Cordura is widely used in tactical equipment.
YKK zippers are high-quality zippers commonly used in clothing and accessories, manufactured by the Japanese YKK Corporation - one of the world's largest zipper manufacturers.
Rip-Stop weave protects the fabric from abrasions and tears. It is characterized by additional threads woven in at regular intervals, forming a mesh-like pattern. It provides high strength to the fabric, increases resistance to mechanical damage, especially tears.

Pants of very high quality, practical and very comfortable. The size chart is accurate. Still, I wouldn’t have bought them without a promotion, but for 350 they’re definitely worth it.

Mega Desert Night camouflage. The pants look great. I have no complaints about the craftsmanship or the number and capacity of pockets. They fit well, the sizing matches the charts. I recommend them without hesitation.

After reading the earlier exhaustive review, it’s hard to add much, but the fact is that photos never really show what something looks like in reality. I paid around 320 PLN for these shorts; if I had paid 430 I definitely would have returned them. The pockets aren't as roomy as you'd think from the picture. And that strip of material in the back, like in short sports shorts, feels extremely thin and weak. I hope I'm wrong :)

The cut of the pants is inspired by the Polish airborne forces uniform from the communist era—which is a classic. Improved and adapted to today's standards. Many interesting camouflage options.

Great product, high quality sewing. Nice model. I have been wearing it for more than a year, I have no complaints. I recommend it for daily use in jobs that are not associated with a heavy load on the fabric.

I’ve been wearing them for over a month. I’m really very satisfied. I don’t use most of the pockets. It's good that the pant leg is wide and adjustable. I don’t use the belt either, the velcro on the waist is enough.

High-quality sewing, excellent arrangement of all, even the smallest, details. Everything is well thought out and practical. I bought it for everyday wear. I recommend it to everyone. After a month of use, I will add another review.

Height: 180 cm, weight: 95 kg, purchased size: XL. I received the pants as a Father’s Day gift. Visually, they look very good, and in the Desert Night Camo version they pleasantly stand out from the Woodland, Flecktarn, Marpat, Panther, "Pixelated Minecrafts" and whatever else is ubiquitous at shooting ranges and on the street. The material is still stiff and rough, but that’s standard for Ripstop that hasn’t yet benefited from a Polish washing machine :) However, I have a few comments: 1. The characteristic pleat on the thigh pockets (front and back) is just a decorative strip of material, which in no way increases the volume of the pocket when fully packed. In theory you could resew them for greater functionality, BUT it looks poor for pants at the price the manufacturer came up with. 2. Capacity of the pockets. The hip pockets are OK and quite deep. The front thigh pockets are the side type from UTP, so they are only moderately roomy — there is also an internal mesh mini pocket for…I don’t know what. The rear thigh pockets have Velcro closures and are quite shallow. Honestly, I have no idea what to use them for. Maybe I’d put empty magazines there instead of a dump pouch? Four flapless pockets known from the SFU NEXT, placed in the front and back, will easily fit a pistol magazine, multitool, or smartphone in a protective case. 3. The flexible but thin rear insert (waist level) designed to improve ease of movement doesn’t inspire my confidence. It seems like the weakest, most tear- or wear-prone link in these pants. Summary: Interesting pants but… It’s exactly this BUT that makes you think hard whether you should spend this kind of money—and if possible, check them out in person in a store.

I waited for this color version to appear. The pants fit very well, interesting cut. The only downside is the price, but a Helikon-Tex fan will do anything to buy them ;)
