Woodland, often referred to as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a legendary camouflage pattern first introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, developed from the earlier ERDL design. Serving as the standard-issue pattern for the US military for over twenty years, up until the close of the 2000s, Woodland is easily recognized by its large, uneven patches of green, brown, tan, and black, ensuring excellent concealment and breaking up silhouettes in forested environments. Due to its proven effectiveness and iconic status, Woodland has inspired numerous variants that have been adopted by more than 60 armed forces worldwide. Beyond its military origins, the pattern has had a substantial influence on mainstream culture, transitioning from combat gear to everyday apparel.
