Modern UTS (Urban Tactical Shorts) crafted from premium NyCo Rip-Stop fabric (50% cotton, 50% nylon), offering exceptional abrasion and tear resistance, while maintaining a lighter weight and faster drying time compared to garments made from 100% cotton.
A multitude of pockets paired with an intelligently designed layout makes these shorts ideal for urban environments and equally reliable for various outdoor pursuits.
A perfect blend of military and civilian style—featuring a low-profile design and the functionality found in tactical shorts. Innovation in tailoring, precise stitching, and fabric selection deliver superior durability and enhanced freedom of movement.
Outfitted with a total of ten pockets:
- Two standard hip pockets with reinforced edges,
- Four pockets positioned on the thighs (including two spacious zippered ones and two slimmer versions secured with Velcro),
- Four pockets on the reverse side (two generously sized, each containing an additional narrow inner pocket).
A wide Velcro closure, rather than a button, permits waist adjustments up to 6 cm. An elastic waistband ensures the shorts adapt comfortably to various body shapes. VersaStretch nylon fabric reinforces the material above the back pockets and crotch for added durability. Extra loops are found on the lower part of the two front belt loops, suitable for attaching gear such as a carabiner.

As others have written, the sizing runs large. If you want to buy 'M' according to the chart, take 'L.' That was my case. Other than that—the pants are high quality. I recommend!

This is my second pair of shorts from the Helikon series—the first pair were Flex 11, now it’s time for Flex 8.5. They’re shorter, very comfortable, well-fitted, with lots of functional pockets. Plus for the cargo pockets with zippers. What more can I say—Helikon stands for quality.

Very comfortable shorts with plenty of practical pockets. The material is durable and should not wear out too quickly. As for sizing, it's actually one size up - I usually wear M, and in this case, it's more like S - very fitted.

No need to elaborate—shorts are well-cut, pockets are well-placed. They’re shorter than UTS 11.

Very well-made shorts. The material and stitching are of high quality. I recommend them. The sizing seems a bit different than in the 11'' PenCott SandStorm version (there I fit into 3XL, here 4XL).
