Karve Cold Steel AUS-10A Folding Knife - Black

Folding knife with a Clip-Point profile made of Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel, which is highly resistant to mechanical damage and corrosion. The blade is coated with a black coating that reduces glare and provides additional protection against the elements. The ergonomically contoured handle consists of a steel framework and screw-on scales made of black G10 glass-epoxy composite. The blade is opened using a double-sided thumb stud, and when open, it is secured by an Atlas Lock. A spring-loaded clip is provided for carrying, allowing the knife to be clipped to a belt or the edge of a pocket.

AUS-10A stainless steel

The blade is made of Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel, which typically reaches 58–61 HRC after hardening. The material combines good corrosion and wear resistance with edge retention and ease of resharpening.

G10 handle

The handle is made of G10 fiberglass-epoxy laminate, which withstands moisture and temperature fluctuations well and is resistant to typical wear and tear during use. The contoured design and non-slip texture make it easy to maintain a secure grip. The hole at the end of the handle allows you to thread a safety cord or lanyard through it.

Atlas Lock

The knife is opened using a double-sided thumb stud. The Atlas Lock blade lock is a slide-type lock that can be operated from either side. In the open position, the locking element interacts with a stop pin, which absorbs part of the forces acting on the blade and transfers them to the handle, thereby relieving stress on the locking mechanism itself. This force distribution reduces wear on the mating surfaces. The lock is released by sliding the slider, which facilitates controlled folding of the blade.

Comfortable everyday carry is ensured by the spring-loaded clip on the handle, which allows you to clip the knife to your belt or the edge of a pocket. The clip is reversible and can be mounted in the tip-up position for both right- and left-handed users.

AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.

Atlas Lock
Atlas Lock is a modern Cold Steel lock, which in terms of durability brings folding knives closer to fixed blade models. The mechanism is based on two pins and a locking rod that distribute pressure evenly; the stop pin absorbs some of the blade's force, and the hidden spring is protected from dirt. The slider on the back of the handle allows for quick, two-way, and safe folding with one hand.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
