Kershaw, a reputable American brand, presents a tactical folding knife developed in collaboration with acclaimed American knife designer Ernest Emerson.

The CQC-8K model features a tanto-style blade with a single-sided grind. A protective black oxide coating enhances the blade’s resistance to reflection and wear. The blade exhibits two finishing techniques: satin polish on the primary surfaces, complemented by a distinctive stonewashed texture with fine scratch lines on the grind. The textured G-10 laminate handle scales deliver a firm and secure grip.

Reliability and safety are guaranteed with a robust frame lock. Blade deployment is achieved via a disk mounted on the spine or the signature Emerson patented wave feature, enabling the blade to automatically open as the knife is drawn from a pocket—dramatically increasing deployment speed. This mechanism is popular among law enforcement personnel, rescue teams, and military operators.

The design integrates a reversible pocket clip, allowing flexible carry options, as well as a lanyard hole for cord attachment.

Kershaw is an American knife brand, founded in 1974 by Pete Kershaw in Oregon, which from the very beginning has focused on the highest quality and practical solutions for hunters, anglers, and everyday users. In 1977, the company was acquired by the Japanese Kai Group, allowing it to combine American innovation with Japanese craftsmanship. In 1998, Kershaw revolutionized the market by introducing the SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism, and in the following years won prestigious Blade Show awards for models such as the Tyrade with Composite Blade technology combining two different types of steel. The brand is also known for its collaboration with renowned knifemakers, including Ken Onion, Ernest Emerson, and Rick Hinderer, which has resulted in iconic models such as the Leek and Cryo.

One of the few knives with Emerson Wave on the market at a fair price (220 PLN). Well-fitted, heavy, gives the impression of being solid. The single-sided grind is interesting, but difficult to sharpen. Factory edge is quite dull.

The handle is very comfortable. Interesting, single-sided chisel-type blade grind, but it works well.

I was looking for a good knife with a tanto blade, not all I have meet certain requirements, but this one is excellent, exceptionally sharp, holds together well without giving the impression it will break or is delicate. This piece is exceptionally massive and heavy, even the clip is perfectly matched and securely fixed. I think for the price, this particular knife is an excellent choice for someone who prefers a black blade and the tanto type, resistant to loads during work, and so on. I recommend it.
