MM14 camouflage
The designation MM-14 stands for маскувальний малюнок (maskuvalʹnyy malyunok, meaning camouflage pattern) and the year 2014, marking when the camouflage was officially adopted. Inspired by the American UCP camouflage, the pattern features colors specifically chosen to reflect those commonly found in the landscapes of Ukraine. The rollout of the MM-14 camouflage pattern was a significant aspect of reforms within the Ukrainian armed forces, aimed at moving away from post-Soviet identification. In addition to the official name, MM-14 is also widely referred to as Ukrainian Pixel Camo and Ukrainian Digital Camo within military circles. MM-14 is an abbreviation of the Ukrainian term маскувальний малюнок (maskuvalʹnyy malyunok, meaning camouflage pattern) and the year 2014—the date of its official adoption. While the design draws from the American UCP digital camouflage style, the chosen color palette is tailored to blend with the natural environments found across Ukraine. Within the military community, MM-14 is informally known as Ukrainian Pixel Camo or Ukrainian Digital Camo. The updated camouflage served as a cornerstone in differentiating the Ukrainian army’s visual identity from its post-Soviet past.
