Carbine Pouch in MAPA camouflage crafted from robust 560 Cordura. Equipped with elastic drawstrings, the pouch accommodates a variety of magazine types. The interior features a non-slip insert, effectively securing magazines against unintended movement.
Laser-cut slots on the pouch’s surface offer compatibility with the MOLLE mounting system, enabling attachment of additional pouches or integration with other tactical gear. Secure fastening to a belt or vest is achieved via mounting straps.
The MAPA camouflage pattern was created by Maciej Dojlitko, an alumnus and now a faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. He is also known for works such as Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage (Gdańsk 2015). This original concept, backed by solid theoretical frameworks and experimental research—including digital analysis of thousands of terrain photos—quickly gained the interest of experts and producers of military apparel. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage was presented for the first time during the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce, featured as the pattern for the Dromader equipment and uniform system by Maskpol, a company that belongs to the Polish Armaments Group. The system was specifically designed for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, though the MAPA pattern itself was proposed as a potential future standard for the entire Polish Armed Forces, with the possibility of replacing the wz.93 camouflage. To date, however, the MAPA camouflage has not been officially adopted by the Polish Army.
The main features of MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
- 6 colors arranged in stratified layers resembling map contours,
- shades precisely tuned for use in the woodlands of Central Europe,
- application of three-dimensional illusion and anamorphosis effects,
- biomorphic forms that echo the appearance of natural vegetation,
- high-contrast components simulating natural light and shadow effects,
- macro patterns that effectively distort the wearer’s outline,
- color noise achieved through a detailed micro pattern.
The MAPA pattern stands out as a compelling alternative to leading modern camouflage systems, such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn, or the Finnish M/05. In several aspects, it surpasses these patterns, offering a more faithful representation of the color palette found in Central European forests from late spring through early autumn.
