I bought the gloves with the idea of commuting to work by bike in the winter. They protect against wind and rain, but in sub-zero temperatures they don't provide enough warmth.
Mechanix Wear ColdWork M-Pact Tactical Gloves - Black/Grey
Insulated, exceptionally robust tactical gloves in Black/Grey, crafted specifically for professional soldiers and special forces operatives. An ideal option for those who demand lightweight, comfortable gloves that deliver outstanding hand protection and a reliable grip.
Durable softshell, C40 3M Thinsulate insulation, TPR panels
Constructed from highly durable materials and reinforced with Armortex, these gloves offer long-lasting performance. The palm area features a windproof and moisture-resistant softshell fabric, effectively blocking cold air from penetrating the gloves. Enhanced with C40 3M Thinsulate insulation, the gloves deliver superior warmth and maintain thermal comfort in extreme weather conditions.
The exterior boasts robust TPR panels (thermoplastic rubber), delivering outstanding defense against abrasions and impacts from external hazards. Meeting the standards of ANSI 138 Level 2, the panels are designed with specialized sections that facilitate finger flexion and easy fist formation. For additional protection, D3O padding is integrated, efficiently absorbing and dispersing impact forces.
Durable synthetic leather, touchscreen capability
The palm side features synthetic leather, offering durability and enabling precision tasks. Enhanced grip is ensured by the leather, preventing slippage on wet or smooth surfaces. A reinforced double layer of material covers the inner thumb and index finger to boost the model’s durability. The construction also permits touchscreen operation without the need to remove the gloves.
Convenient Velcro closure, snap buckle
The fastening utilizes thermoplastic rubber (TPR) combined with Velcro, ensuring a highly accurate adjustment of the gloves around the wrist. A further benefit of this design is the inclusion of a snap buckle for attaching the gloves together, significantly improving ease of transport and storage.
Compliance with EN388-2121XP, ANSI/ISEA 138 2 and EN511 11X standards
These gloves comply with the American safety standard ANSI/ISEA 138 at level 2 for the ability to absorb impact energy. This classification includes:
- 1: basic protection against impacts
- 2: medium impact protection
- 3: high impact protection
Compliance with EN388 at level 2121XP ensures resistance to various mechanical risks:
- 2: abrasion resistance (graded 0–4)
- 1: cut resistance (graded 0–5)
- 2: tear resistance (graded 0–4)
- 1: puncture resistance (graded 0–4)
- X: cut resistance according to the TDM method (ISO 13997), rated A–F
- P: impact protection (test successfully passed)
Cold resistance is classified according to EN511 at level 11X, which covers:
- 1: protection against penetration by cold air (scale 0–4)
- 1: contact cold resistance (scale 0–4)
- X: water penetration resistance (scale 0–1)
According to the ANSI/ISEA 138 standard, impact protection is determined by measuring the force transmitted (in kN) during impact testing. A lower transmitted force signifies a higher level of glove protection.
The ratings in the EN388 and EN511 standards represent protective performance: 0 means no protection, while the highest ratings (4 or 5) denote maximum resistance. For water penetration, 0 means the glove allows penetration, while 1 means there is no penetration.
For the TDM (ISO 13997) testing method, letters are used for classification, where A designates the lowest protection and F the highest protection.
X marking signifies the parameter was either not assessed or not relevant. P marking confirms the glove satisfies the impact protection criteria.

Softshell is a type of material used in outdoor clothing that is characterized by its flexibility, breathability and high weather protection. Constructed of multi-layered fabric, softshell provides protection from wind and light rain, while providing freedom of movement and effective moisture control.
TPR, or thermoplastic rubbeTPR, or thermoplastic rubber, is a material that combines the properties of rubber and plastic. It is flexible and durable, and is often used in the manufacture of tool handles, gaskets, footwear, and many other products, as it provides comfort, good grip and wear resistance.r, is a type of synthetic material that combines the properties of rubber and plastic. TPR is characterized by its flexibility and abrasion resistance.
Thinsulate is a high-tech insulating material from 3M with a special construction based on synthetic microfibers that provide high thermal insulation at a low weight. Its lightweight, elasticity, and ability to retain heat even in humid conditions make it widely used in clothing and footwear. Thinsulate fibers are durable and abrasion-resistant, resulting in long-lasting durability.
Armortex is a durable material that is highly resistant to abrasion, tearing and cutting. Its special synthetic fiber structure reinforces the areas most vulnerable to damage, and the special texture ensures better grip and a secure hold. It prevents the gloves from becoming wet in contact with water, oil or other liquids.
D3O is a modern material with intelligent molecules that move freely during normal use. However, at the moment of impact, they fuse together, absorbing and dispersing energy, then rapidly return to an elastic state. As a result, the material effectively reduces vibration, protects hands from injury and reduces hand strain while working.

These gloves are fine. They are fairly warm, look good, and are comfortable to use in many situations. They are not stiff, rather flexible. At this price, they're OK and I can recommend them.
-
Overall, I am very positively surprised when it comes to thermal conditions. Before the gloves "warm up" to body temperature, they may feel cool, but after that, it's just pure pleasure. Tested during frosts at -12°C while removing ice from a hole. Despite getting wet and feeling moisture, my hands stayed warm. Even during the return walk in a freezing wind, my hands stayed warm, even though the outer layer, which was wet, froze. Additional positives are the comfort during manual tasks and using the phone. You can easily write messages. The only thing I missed when buying was a different color scheme, like camouflage style.
-
Great gloves, very comfortable and warm. They work perfectly on winter days and are good for working in. I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs warm winter gloves that you can actually work in.
-
At first glance, the gloves seem solid, but after a few weeks of only using them for protection against the cold, the seams begin to come apart and the sponge comes out from the inside, which is a deep disappointment.
-
Nice, comfortable and really safe gloves. Bought for duty during searches of places where there is a high risk of catching something nasty. It's not an excessive price for health or even life. I recommend them.
-
The gloves are comfortable and work well for light tasks. They provide good protection against the cold, especially if you additionally secure your wrists in another way. They are not suitable for heavy-duty work. They served me for one season working in the forest (preparing about 50 cubic meters of firewood on my own). Overall, I rate the product as good.
-
The gloves keep your hands warm for a while, but during the very cold Finnish winters, they eventually become cold. When the temperature drops significantly, for example to -20°C, it is necessary to wear several layers. At temperatures well below zero, it's worth considering buying other gloves. They do not cover the wrists, so this part of the body can get cold if you do not put on an additional pair underneath to protect the wrists. They are comfortable and the overall quality is good.
-
The gloves are great, everything matches the description, they are very warm and comfortable, they look great. I took them for my scooter and they worked perfectly without any problems. I recommend them to everyone.

The gloves are great, they're perfect for biking. This is already another pair, and definitely not the last from this company. And as for the store, I always recommend it—every delivery is express.
-
These are already my next pair of Mechanix gloves among many I've owned. They're great for shooting in winter conditions. For fairly warm gloves, the manual dexterity in them is very good. The quality and appearance are top notch. For harsh frosts they would definitely be too thin, but as a compromise with excellent grip, they are excellent.
-
I got these gloves from my father at my request. These are the best gloves for people who are active outdoors in winter. Every angler, cyclist, birdwatcher, or athlete will be satisfied with them. The level of precision and feel is surprisingly high—for example, you can tie your shoes without taking off the gloves. I recommend them also for their durability, excellent protection against injuries, and precision.

I bought the gloves for winter trips to the forest. They are very warm, even too warm, so it's worth buying them for really severe frosts. Size XL fits—I don't have large hands, more like L/XL, but they're fairly okay. The downside is that when the gloves end and, for example, I'm working shoveling snow, the buttons on my Garmin watch keep getting pressed by the gloves. Their length ends just in such a way that it presses the buttons on the Garmin Forerunner 965 watch.

Really great work gloves and super warm, more than other regular winter work gloves. These are my third pair of gloves from this company and every time I am very satisfied
