Overall, I rate the shoes positively. Starting with the pros. This is one of the few models with a wider toe box instead of the typically tapered front, which is a huge advantage for my wide feet — for that alone I would most gladly give it 10 stars out of 5. The material is of excellent quality, the suede is very pleasant, and the way the shoe sits on the foot is nearly perfect. On top of that, they are lightweight while also being solidly stitched and glued. They do not soak through, and the foot does not sweat excessively, which really matters after a full day of walking. As for the minor drawbacks, the upper part of the shoe feels comfortable, and the quick-lacing system also looks good. The problem appears, however, with the leather element — it was designed somewhat uncomfortably, and because of that the final stage of lacing is not very convenient. The tongue and the upper barely meet at the edges. It is hard to describe precisely, but for two days I tried different settings, tying the laces tighter and looser. I have an ordinary foot, neither very slim nor exceptionally wide. In the end, on the third day I gave up on the top eyelet, tied the shoes one level lower, and then these mid-height shoes turned into exceptionally comfortable sneakers. For that part I would give 3 stars, so the overall score drops to 8. The biggest disappointment concerns the “barefoot” technology. I have the impression that savings were made here on the insole and the internal construction. It is true that thanks to the very good fit even such a stiff sole is acceptable, but for the first half hour you feel like adding something like FloatFoam or another anatomical insole. Fortunately, that feeling passes quite quickly, and after about 30 minutes everything is already fine. Here too I would rate it at 3 stars, so in the overall balance it comes down to 6. As a side note, it is worth adding that the laces are really strong, sit well, and do not come undone on their own. The sole tread itself is quite successful and provides good grip, but on wet granite or wet metal, that is, where there is nothing to “catch” onto, it can be slippery. For that I would give 4 points. In summary, despite all the nuances, I am giving it 5 stars. However, I think that more demanding users might judge this model more harshly, and the average rating would come to around 4.5–4.8 stars.
Merrell Wrapt Mid Waterproof Boots - Mole
Brown shoes combining the freedom of movement characteristic of a barefoot design with the protection needed during outdoor activities. The raised upper shields the foot and ankle, while the flexible construction does not restrict movement. They will perform well both on forest paths and mountain trails, as well as during everyday walks.
Waterproof membrane and leather upper help protect the feet from moisture and changing weather conditions. The grippy Quantum Grip outsole ensures stable contact with the ground on varied surfaces.
Leather upper and waterproof membrane
The upper of the footwear is made of waterproof suede leather. The upper also features mesh elements, which improve the flexibility of the construction and support air circulation. The combination of leather and textile panels helps maintain a balance between protection and freedom of movement.
A waterproof membrane is responsible for limiting water ingress into the interior. At the same time, it allows some moisture generated inside the footwear to escape. Thanks to this, the shoes will perform well during walks and hikes in the rain, on wet paths, and in damp vegetation.
anatomical Barefoot design
The shoes were made in line with the principles of the Merrell Barefoot 2 design. Their interior has been designed so that the foot can assume a more natural position, without forced heel elevation in relation to the toes.
The sole has the same height in the front and rear part - 13 mm. This means that the heel is not positioned higher than the toes, which supports a more natural way of placing the foot and allows better control of contact with the ground.
The wide front of the shoe gives the toes the space needed for a natural position while walking. This solution reduces the feeling of pressure and supports the natural movement of the foot on uneven ground.
Quantum Grip sole
Grip is provided by the Merrell Quantum Grip rubber outsole. The rubber compound used and the trail tread ensure stable contact with the ground while walking on varied surfaces.
The multi-directional lug pattern supports traction during ascents, descents, and changes of walking direction. The tread also reduces foot contact with sharp ground elements, providing additional protection during hikes.
Lining and insole, Cleansport NXT technology
The interior of the shoe is lined with breathable mesh made from 100% recycled materials. The material supports moisture wicking during movement. The integrated EVA foam insole provides light cushioning and increases comfort while walking on hard ground. The insole cover is also made of recycled mesh.
The internal EVA construction has been developed to reduce the weight of the footwear and provide a softer feel when placing the foot down. The Cleansport NXT treatment used supports natural control of unpleasant odours.
lacing system
The fit of the shoes is ensured by a classic lacing system using metal hooks in the upper part of the upper. They make it easier to put the footwear on and take it off efficiently and allow precise adjustment of the lacing tension.

EVA is a lightweight foam made of plastic characterized by flexibility and durability, as well as good resistance to chemicals and moisture. It is widely used in the production of clothing, footwear and accessories.
Cleansport NXT is a technology that uses microorganisms to neutralize odors by naturally breaking down organic matter. Beneficial microorganisms are permanently fused to the fibers of the materials, where, when they come into contact with the organic material (sweat), they activate and produce enzymes that fight the bacteria responsible for the odor. This ecological process ensures a feeling of freshness and comfort even during the most intense activities.
