Flecktarn represents a classic German military camouflage pattern, officially adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1990. The design features small, irregular spots in five distinct shades—typically dark green, olive, brown, black, and beige. Thanks to the dense distribution of dots and the soft transitions between the colors, Flecktarn expertly breaks up the wearer’s outline, providing excellent concealment in wooded areas, scrublands, and the underbrush of forests. Developed with European climates in mind, especially the temperate zone, Flecktarn continues to serve as the standard camouflage for the German army, as well as for other military and police forces. High effectiveness has inspired various adaptations and versions in numerous other countries.
