A generously sized yet remarkably light folding knife from the Slim series, featuring a 12-centimeter locking blade. A legendary model from the French brand, backed by over a century of craftsmanship tradition.

Equipped with a Trailing Point blade forged from Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel, meticulously polished to a mirror-like finish. The flat-full grind approaches a zero-edge, which, together with the reduced blade thickness, delivers outstanding cutting performance. Well-suited for filleting tasks.

A notch on the blade allows for easy opening, similar to Victorinox pocket knives. When deployed, the blade is secured by the Viroblock safety mechanism, patented in 1955. This sturdy steel ring, positioned at the pivot, rotates to cover the blade slot in the handle, locking the blade in place. The same mechanism ensures the knife remains safely closed during transport.

The ergonomically contoured handle, crafted from olive wood, is finished with a transparent, abrasion-resistant lacquer, offering a secure and comfortable grip. The handle’s construction is ideal for personal customization—such as drilling a hole for a lanyard or adding texture, carvings, or custom stains.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.
