Medium-sized lightweight folding knife featuring an 85 mm blade. The blade utilizes a Clip-Point profile and is crafted from 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel with a semi-matte finish. Thanks to the full flat grind and slim blade thickness, the knife offers exceptional cutting performance.
Opening the knife is easy using a notch on the blade, while the Virobloc lock secures the blade in the open position. Positioned on the handle at the blade’s pivot, this steel ring must be rotated after the knife is opened to cover the slot in the handle, locking the blade in place. When folded, the same mechanism prevents accidental opening.
The ergonomically contoured handle is fashioned from oak wood. Two bisons, with a backdrop of mountains and trees, are carved to enhance grip security. The handle also allows for easy customization: users can carve, texture, or lacquer it in any color. The wooden structure enables a hole to be added to the back for attaching a security lanyard if desired.

The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

If you don't have it yet, it's worth adding another item to your animalia series collection. The pocket knife is very sharp and has an original handle. Perfect for EDC. I recommend it to fans of this company and not only to them.

The knife looks lovely and is sharp, although for me it mostly sits on my desk and looks nice. Since the blade is relatively thin, even with ordinary package opening some chips can appear on the blade. In my opinion, it's good for opening packages, letters, and looking good.

Opinel no. 8 is a classic among widely understood EDC knives. Very lightweight, small, with a very thin blade that gives amazing sharpness even without special sharpening skills. In addition, this version looks great—in real life, the wood is a bit darker than in the photos. My model is quite hard to open, but that's the charm of Opinels.

Elegant, very light, sharp as a razor. The pattern is distinct, about 1 mm deep—it’s not just a crude burn but a deep, strong carved design. I think it looks better in person than in the photo. Opinel is a brand I completely trust and have never been disappointed by. This model also turned out to be a great choice. It is very stylish, really well made, and as a climbing enthusiast I found the image of the chamois to be a definite advantage. Compared to the standard Opinel, it seems to differ very little. The oak wood in this case, and its decoration, look really great. The knife is ideal as a gift. However, it seems to me that when opening and locking it is much less stiff compared to the beechwood Opinel.
