Opinel

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Opinel.

Opinel is a French knife brand whose history dates back to 1890 in Savoy. The founder, Joseph Opinel, created the first folding knife, No. 08, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the Virobloc locking system was introduced, later modernized, which is still the hallmark of the brand today. In 1985, Opinel was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum as one of the 100 best-designed objects in the world, and the brand's knives also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production takes place in Chambery, with an emphasis on quality and ecology - the wood comes from French forests and the waste is used to heat the factory. Among the famous users was Pablo Picasso, who used Opinel for carving, and the knives themselves have become a symbol of simplicity, durability, and the French lifestyle.

Great equipment for camping or trips into the wild. The blade length meets UK law requirements for carrying. The accessories are well matched and don't take up much space, excellent for traveling with minimal luggage. The blade is exceptionally sharp, it is recommended to protect the handle from liquids to keep the mechanism working smoothly.

The clever and compact set made my colleagues a bit jealous. The elements fit together perfectly. Now I’ll have to buy a second Opinel to complete the knife for the fork.

In the Garden model, you don't have to rotate the Viroblock for the cutlery to stay in place, while in the classic 'eight' you need to close the Viroblock—just a small note. A very practical accessory.

A very nice set for meals, worth buying together with the Opinel 8, as it forms a complete set. I have an Opinel 8 Garden, and the cloth fits perfectly with it – it's a really good solution.

A great addition to the Opinel knife for all kinds of camping, bushcraft, and even for everyday use (because why let it just lie around :D). The cloth is a nice bonus, especially since it also serves as a case. The price-to-quality ratio is satisfactory.

A wonderful addition for the Opinel knife N.8. The set includes a napkin, which makes it very convenient to pack everything, though with the napkin it becomes a bit bulky. I prefer using it without the napkin rather than in a pocket, and the spoon with the fork is a compact addition to have somewhere in the backpack. All Opinel fans will definitely like it.

Surprisingly comfortable cutlery! The fork has perfect dimensions, the spoon in my opinion is a bit too small for a large one and at the same time slightly too big for a small one. But that's the price of versatility, you can eat soup and stir your coffee with it. It's probably just a matter of getting used to it. The cloth, although not very big, does its job and also serves as a good case for the set. The knife's lock holds the cutlery perfectly. More for picnics than for travel, but worth its price. Workmanship and materials are of a high level.

As soon as I saw this set, I had to buy it for my Opinel. The cutlery fits my knife perfectly. I’m deducting one star for the rough finish on the edges of the spoon and fork – they’re not sharp, but they don’t look very neat. For the price, they could have done better. The cloth fits the utensils with the knife together, but here again there’s a flaw – the loop with the elastic is not perfectly in the corner, but noticeably shifts to one side.

I recently became an Opinel enthusiast and keep discovering new products from them. In this case, I was curious how this set would work in use. It's a nice essential tool, though the only inconvenience is that if you want to use both the knife and fork at the same time, you have to choose: buy another No. 8 knife or use the fork unattached to the handle? I think I’ll end up buying a second knife :).
