I really liked the backpack in terms of comfort, especially when you have to walk for a long time with a typical load. The carrying system and ventilation are very well designed — your back sweats less, and the weight is distributed much better than in simpler models. 65 liters is easily enough for a few days' trip or when you need to take a lot of things. The straps and belt can be easily adjusted to suit your own needs. The material is durable, and the zippers and fittings feel solid and sturdy. The combination of Histosol Brown and Rhino Grey colors is discreet and practical. A downside could be that for short trips or city use, the backpack is already quite large and more specialized.
Osprey Rook Backpack 65 l - Histosol Brown / Rhino Grey
Expedition backpack offering a capacity of 65 liters, constructed from lightweight yet robust 600D polyester derived from recycled sources and Bluesign-certified. The exterior is equipped with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating, providing reliable protection against moisture and dirt. Features an integrated rain cover that is also removable.
Compartments and functions of the backpack
The design offers a roomy main compartment, separated into two sections to help you efficiently organize your gear. The lower section, accessed independently via a front zipper, is ideal for carrying a sleeping bag or other bulky equipment. Positioned on the back panel, a dedicated pocket for a water bottle is compatible with Source hydration systems.
The backpack lid features a zippered mesh pocket for storing smaller essentials and comes with a key clip for added convenience. Side pockets crafted from stretch mesh give quick and easy access to water bottles.
With the use of side and interior compression straps, the backpack’s volume can be minimized and its load adjusted as needed. Additional removable compression straps at the base provide secure attachment points for a sleeping mat or pad, enhancing functionality on extended treks. Elastic loops located on the top and front make it possible to carry extra accessories.
AirSpeed carrying system
The adaptable AirSpeed carrying system utilizes an ergonomically shaped aluminum frame manufactured from 6005-T5 aluminum alloy, reinforced with titanium struts and finished with breathable mesh fabric. This construction maintains a space for airflow between the backpack and the wearer’s back, promoting optimal ventilation.
The customizable, ventilated shoulder straps contour naturally to the body for improved comfort during extended wear. A waist belt effectively disperses weight and includes two zippered pockets for convenient storage of smaller essentials. An adjustable chest strap is integrated with an emergency whistle for added safety.
A comfortable handle at the top allows for easy manual transport of the backpack.
