Schrade Boneyard Folder Folding Knife - Black

A folding knife with a Hawkbill-profile blade measuring 69.8 mm in length, made of high-quality AUS-10 stainless steel. The blade’s distinctive curved geometry facilitates effective cutting.

The design was developed with tasks requiring a secure grip in mind. The distinctly contoured handle with a large finger ring increases stability, reducing the risk of the hand slipping and improving safety during use.

high-quality AUS-10 stainless steel

The knife blade is made of high-quality B AUS-10B stainless steel. The carbon content ensures high hardness, while the chromium guarantees excellent resistance to corrosion and abrasion. The steel also contains manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur, which affect its hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties.

Hawkbill blade profile, jimping, powder coating

This model features a Hawkbill-profile blade, which has been finished with a black powder coating. The process involves electrostatically applying dry powder to the surface of the raw material and curing it in an oven, resulting in a thicker and more uniform coating than traditional paints. The coating provides high resistance to corrosion, scratches, impacts, chemicals, and UV radiation.

The Hollow grind improves cutting performance, allowing for clean and smooth cuts. The spine of the blade features jimping, which enhances control when applying pressure with the thumb.

G10 laminate handle with ergonomic profile

The handle is made of durable black G10 laminate, which is highly resistant to mechanical damage, moisture, and chemical exposure. Its surface features a distinct texture that improves grip and reduces the risk of the tool slipping out of your hand.

The ergonomic shape and strategically placed finger grooves improve grip stability. The integrated finger ring further enhances control over the tool, preventing the hand from slipping during use and increasing safety.

liner lock, thumb stud, Ultra-Glide system

The knife is opened using a thumb stud on both sides. The opening process has been improved through the use of the Ultra-Glide opening assist system, which is based on ball bearings.

The blade is stabilized by a Liner Lock, which secures the blade in the open position and prevents it from accidentally closing. The mechanism’s design ensures reliable operation and comfortable handling.

spring clip

The model is equipped with a spring-loaded clip that allows you to conveniently carry the knife in your pocket or as an accouterment, ensuring quick access to the tool. The clip’s design keeps the knife securely in place, minimizing movement while you’re on the move.

AUS-10 feature
AUS-10
AUS-10 is a high-quality stainless steel produced by the Japanese company Aichi Steel, considered one of the best in the AUS steel series, used mainly in mid-range and high-end utility knives, produced mainly in Japan and Taiwan. The carbon content (0.95-1.1%) ensures high hardness, while chromium (13-14.5%) guarantees very good corrosion and abrasion resistance. The steel also contains manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), phosphorus (up to 0.025%), and sulfur (up to 0.025%), which affect hardenability, impact strength, elasticity, and machinability, improving structural stability and maintaining mechanical properties. After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 58-61 HRC, offering an excellent balance between strength, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. It is comparable to 440C steel, differing in carbon content and the addition of vanadium, which improves structural homogeneity and increases abrasion resistance.
System Ultra Glide feature
System Ultra Glide
Ultra-Glide system used in Schrade knives is a ball bearing-based opening mechanism designed to ensure smooth, light, and quick one-handed blade deployment. This solution minimizes the resistance of the mechanism, making the blade movement smooth, precise, and much more pleasant than in designs without bearings. Ultra-Glide significantly facilitates knife operation by reducing the effort required to open it, making it particularly practical in EDC knives.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Powder feature
Powder
Powder coating is a modern finish that creates a hard and durable protective layer on metal elements, including knife blades. The process involves electrostatically applying dry powder to the surface and curing it in an oven, resulting in a thicker and more uniform coating than traditional paints. Powder Coat does not contain solvents and is more environmentally friendly, prevents the coating from running during application, and provides high resistance to corrosion, scratches, impacts, chemicals, and UV radiation. The coating is available in a wide range of colors and textures, from smooth to rough, allowing you to customize the look and functionality of the finish.
