Sky-Watcher BKMAK 127 SP telescope Optical tube

The MAK 127 SP telescope is built in the Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system, characterized by excellent image sharpness and lack of chromatic aberration. It consists of a meniscus correction plate, a primary mirror, and a secondary mirror placed on the inner part of the meniscus. This type of design works perfectly in urban conditions where the bright sky makes it difficult to observe fainter nebular objects. The telescope has a 1.25-inch eyepiece drawtube, as well as a diagonal in this size and two eyepieces.

The BKMAK 127 SP model performs particularly well in urban conditions, where bright skies limit the observation of vast nebulae. The Maksutov optical system provides high image sharpness, very good contrast, and minimal chromatic aberration, making it appreciated by both novice and more advanced night sky observers.

The heart of the telescope is a closed Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system using a spherical meniscus corrector made of crown glass, a primary mirror, and a secondary mirror placed on the inner side of the meniscus. This design effectively reduces coma, astigmatism, and chromatic aberration, providing exceptionally sharp and clear images.

The use of multi-layer anti-reflective coatings increases light transmission and improves the contrast of the observed image. A 127 mm aperture allows the telescope to gather about 235 times more light than the human eye, translating to the ability to observe objects up to about magnitude 12. Optical resolution allows the separation of stars about 1.1 arc seconds apart.

The BKMAK 127 SP model features a compact design, making the telescope convenient to transport and easy to store. A weight of about 3.4-3.5 kg allows for comfortable use both during balcony observations and field trips. The design also allows for the mounting of the tube on photographic tripods or astronomical mounts of the AZ4 and EQ3-2 class.

Thanks to the f/11.8 lens speed, the telescope performs very well during the observation of the Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, or Mars. The long focal length allows for high magnifications without the need for very short eyepieces.
