Quite a nice sleeping bag. From 10°C and above, it’s possible to sleep in it without a mat or self-inflating mattress, just on the tent floor or a thin sleeping pad, although in such a case it won’t be completely comfortable because of the uneven ground. Recently, I slept in it along with a Bushmen Hideout and fully dressed (at around 10°C) and it was super warm. If you added a self-inflating mat or mattress, you could easily have a comfortable night’s sleep in it at around 0°C, which matches the manufacturer’s claims.
The sleeping bag’s material picks up a bit of moisture from condensation on the inside of the Bushmen Hideout after a cold night, but it doesn’t soak through, instead staying on the outer surface.
If someone likes to sleep in shoes (I can’t stand it), the sleeping bag has a different black material at the feet—supposedly more durable. I can’t say more about this because I haven’t tested the product in that regard.
You can hang the Kestrel to dry using special loops made for this purpose.
Overall, it’s quite a successful product. It’s comfortable to sleep in. Within its temperature range, it provides pleasant warmth, and that’s the most important thing. I recommend it with a clear conscience.
