Snugpak Spearhead Jacket - Olive

Insulated jacket in olive drab designed for use in winter conditions. The combination of lightweight Paratex fabric with Softie synthetic insulation reduces heat loss and helps maintain thermal comfort in cold surroundings.

The model provides effective thermal insulation in sub-zero temperatures down to -15 degrees Celsius, while remaining comfortable to wear and not restricting freedom of movement. Thanks to its lightweight construction, the jacket is suitable for hiking, camping, field work, and everyday use during the winter season.

The outer layer is made of lightweight Paratex, which reduces wind penetration and shields the synthetic insulation from direct contact with moisture. The smooth surface of the fabric makes it easier to put on and take off additional layers of clothing and also reduces snagging on other items of clothing.

The low weight of the fabric helps maintain a favourable ratio of thermal protection to jacket weight. The outer fabric is coated with DWR waterproofing, which causes water droplets to run off its surface. The coating supports protection against light rain, drizzle, and short-term contact with damp ground.

Thermal insulation is provided by Softie synthetic filling developed by Snugpak. The insulation fibres create a three-dimensional structure that traps air between the outer fabric and the lining. This limits heat exchange with the surroundings and slows body cooling during exposure to low temperatures.

The insulation provides thermal comfort at temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius, while -15 degrees Celsius is the limit temperature for using the jacket. The filling is lightweight and compressible. This allows the jacket volume to be reduced during transport without giving up the insulation needed in winter conditions.

The jacket is equipped with a practical set of pockets placed on the outside and inside of the construction:

• 2 deep lower pockets fastened with a zipper
• 1 shoulder pocket fastened with a zipper
• 1 concealed chest pocket
• 1 inner pocket fastened with a zipper

Lower pockets are spacious enough to store a phone, wallet, keys, or gloves. Their interior is finished with a soft fabric that increases comfort when warming your hands.

The concealed chest pocket is suitable for storing documents and small items requiring extra protection. The inner pocket fastened with a zipper allows you to keep the most important accessories closer to the body and reduces the risk of them accidentally falling out.

The front of the jacket is closed with a zipper from the renowned YKK brand. The fastening allows the jacket to be quickly put on and taken off and to adjust the level of protection depending on temperature and intensity of movement.

The bottom edge is fitted with drawstrings for adjusting the circumference. The adjustment reduces draughts from below and helps keep warm air inside the jacket. The slightly extended back increases lower back coverage when bending over and working in a leaned-forward position.

The model is equipped with a detachable hood with a full layer of insulation. The hood provides additional head protection in wind and frost, and its design allows it to be worn over a cap or a thin layer of clothing.

A stiffened visor is used at the edge of the hood. It reduces water running onto the face and improves protection against wind. The fit of the hood can be adjusted with drawstrings placed on the sides.

The high collar protects the neck and connects with the front fastening. At the top of the zipper there is a chin guard. The inner side of the collar is finished with a polyester lining that improves comfort when wearing the jacket with the zipper fully closed.

The sleeves feature a construction that ensures full freedom of movement. Their lower part is equipped with adjustable velcro fastenings. They allow the cuff width to be adjusted to the wrists and reduce cold air getting inside the jacket. The adjustment also makes it easier to fit the cuffs over gloves and additional layers of clothing.

Thanks to the use of lightweight fabric and Softie synthetic insulation, the jacket can be packed into the included transport sack. After compression, it takes up less space in a backpack, bag, or luggage, so it can be used as an extra layer taken on a trip.

The sack makes it easier to transport and store the jacket. After unpacking, the construction regains its volume, allowing the insulating properties of the filling to be used.
