SOG Hidaka FX CPM 3V Fixed Blade Knife - Satin
A robust military-survival knife featuring a Full Tang design, meaning the tang extends throughout the entire handle. Developed by the acclaimed Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda, the Hidaka model's primary strength lies in its blade, crafted from CPM 3V powder steel. This steel is known for its exceptional impact resistance, outstanding resistance to chipping, and excellent edge retention.
CPM 3V powder steel
The Hidaka FX model is crafted from a single piece of CPM 3V steel engineered by Crucible Industries. Produced through powder metallurgy, this steel offers exceptional homogeneity and purity within its microstructure. The material stands out for its superior abrasion resistance coupled with outstanding impact strength and long-lasting durability. Enhanced corrosion resistance further sets it apart from conventional tool steels.
Geometry and hardening
Merging the characteristics of both Tanto and classic Drop-Point blade shapes, the blade measures 152 mm in length, features a hardness of 60 HRC, and is finished using the satin technique for a refined, semi-matte appearance. A compound grind—hollow grind near the handle paired with a flat grind toward the tip—extends to over half the height of the blade, and, combined with a spine thickness of 4.8 mm, offers superior resistance to breakage. The recurve along the cutting edge further enhances cutting efficiency. For greater handling precision, jimping (serrations) is provided on the spine at the thumb rest.
micarta handle
The handle features ergonomically contoured scales that are attached to the tang with screws, crafted from highly durable and mechanically resistant Micarta. The textured scales ensure a firm hold, even when hands are wet or dirty. A lanyard hole is incorporated at the end of the handle for attaching a safety cord. The overall handle design, combined with the finger guard at the front, effectively prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade during operation.
kydex sheath
Included in the set is a durable pouch crafted from lightweight and impact-resistant Kydex material. Multiple holes and eyelets on each side provide versatile attachment options to your gear. A belt mount on the back of the pouch enables secure knife carry.

SOG Specialty Knives & Tools is an American brand founded in 1986 by Spencer Fraser, inspired by the MACV-SOG knife used by special forces during the Vietnam War. The first S1 Bowie model was created in collaboration with Japanese master blacksmith Ichiro Hattori and became an icon among tactical knives. SOG gained recognition with the SEAL 2000 model, which was adopted by the Navy SEALs and is now on display at the Navy SEALs museum in Fort Pierce. The brand also offers advanced multitools that use patented Compound Leverage technology, which nearly doubles the pressure of the pliers thanks to double pivot points. SOG products are characterized by their solid construction, precision workmanship, and are designed for both professionals and outdoor enthusiasts. Today, SOG tools are manufactured primarily in the US and Taiwan, continuing a tradition of quality and reliability.
