Texar Desert Ghost Boots - Khaki

Online purchase, shipping was not very fast. During selection, I had four models of shoes to choose from, each available in two sizes, 41 and 42 EU (my foot length is 27.3cm and standard width). Here is my subjective evaluation from minimum to maximum: 1. Texar Desert Ghost - Khaki: I liked them the least (strange color), the sizing does not match the chart – the sizes run small enough that both were too small. Well-made shoes, ordinary insole, average comfort when put on, hard sole – something like Kupczak MON. 2. Texar Stinger - Khaki: Nicer than the previous ones and the most attractive in this comparison. Surprisingly, as these are also Texar, the sizing matches the chart. Size 41 is a bit too small but I think after wearing, the shoe will give in enough to perfectly fit a foot with a thin sock. Size 42 is too large even with a medium-thick/all-year sock. Well-made shoes, standard insole, average comfort when worn, hard sole like Desert Ghosts. 3. KOMBAT uk PRO 50/50 (bought from a competitor): in my opinion the most attractive of those compared. Correct sizing: 41 is perfect with a thin sock and 42 is acceptable with a thicker/all-year sock. Well-made shoes (comparable to Texar), feel more comfortable than the previous ones, the sole is no longer as hard although still not as soft as the shoes that won my comparison. Nice feature with the external heel reinforcement. 4. Bates Tactical Sport 2 Desert: winner of the comparison, although not the most attractive. The sizing chart is its weakest point – the sizes run small. I chose size 41, which with a thin sock leaves about 2-3mm of room and with a medium/all-year sock is ideal for me. High-quality workmanship like the other shoes in the comparison, but after putting the shoe on, it leaves the competition far behind. From the first moment, it fits perfectly to the foot and ankle, you almost don't feel you're wearing them, good insole and the sole is super flexible, not resisting as much when walking as those in the previous shoes. If someone, when choosing one of the above models, is wondering whether it's worth paying about 150 PLN more for the Bates Tactical Sport 2, my answer is definitely YES.

Shoes taken to the Polish seaside, a walking trip from Kołobrzeg to Ustka, mainly along the beach, often more or less soaked by water and in sand, but it made no impression on them—the zipper works, nothing comes apart or cracks, I was supposed to waterproof them, but didn't buy any waterproofing agent.

I'm a bit worried about the zipper. I'm concerned that it might slide down. But so far it's okay, comfortable, solid, and the guys also say it's easy to clean, so we'll see how it goes after the first action.

Great shoes. Comfortable, perfect height. The foot breathes moderately. Good quality.

I bought these shoes a year ago for 249. That was their price. Hmm, if I think about what they've been through with me, I honestly recommend them. Over 300 km through forests, wet areas, the Tatras and Bieszczady. No leather greasing or waterproofing. Just heavy use, and they lasted a year anyway. For me, that's a lot for shoes :D Overall, they're super comfortable and breathe well. And this zipper... A lifesaver, zip zip and done—not like with usual laces. Just zip down, foot in, zip up.

Great shoes, look better in person than in the picture. Size chart matches, I don't know why people say they bought a size too big or small, just look at the size chart and, for certainty, measure your foot and there will be no 'disaster'. That's what I did, no problem at all.

Shoes as described, they are durable and comfortable. They quickly mold to your foot. Easy to clean. The side zipper is a very good feature.

Great shoes, only problem with the size. I usually wear Protectors 44, it turned out I have to exchange Texars for 45.

Shoes perform well in the mountains. Even in winter. After several hours of walking, they stay fresh, especially if you also wear ski socks. It's worth using waterproofing on them, thanks to which you can cross streams with 'dry feet' ;)

Shoes are well made and very visually attractive. The zipper is very useful, allowing you to put on or take off the shoes quickly. Still need to test them in the field.

After putting them on, the shoes seem very comfortable—will see how they perform in the field after the first trip. Shoes match the description on the website, but I received a pair that was slightly stained with something black on the inside of the tongue, otherwise nothing to complain about. For this price, I think you won't find anything better.
