Visually impressive, you can feel it's made from solid materials, the slide and barrel are metal, and the stock is thick plastic, it fits nicely in the hand. The CO2 cartridge cover is loose when grabbed, the blocking clip needs to be pressed firmly to release. The sights are effective and well-made, with full adjustment, which is great. I sometimes have problems with the magazine movement; it doesn't always respond to the lever. More distinctive magazine markers would help to indicate its rotation. The lever requires more force for me, but you can get used to it. The air gun has potential for upgrades, shot consistency for 3 magazines is very good at both 10m and 20m, powered by a 2x12g CO2 adapter.
Umarex 850 M2 4.5 mm Air Rifle
Equipped with a rifled barrel, this multi-shot air rifle utilizes an 88 g CO2 cartridge mounted beneath the barrel for operation, delivering 4.5 mm pellet (Diabolo) ammunition. The synthetic handguard provides both durability and a lightweight build, ensuring robust performance in demanding conditions.
Automatic safety and loading lever
The 850 M2 variant features an automatic safety mechanism that stops accidental discharge, engaging every time the bolt lever is cycled. The rotary magazine accommodates 8 rounds of 4.5 mm Diabolo pellets, requiring a reload after each individual shot. The air rifle’s barrel is equipped with a 1/2"-20 UNF thread, allowing for the attachment of a silencer. A protective cap comes pre-installed on the threaded section.
Fiber optic sighting devices and mounting rail
Equipped with fiber optic sights – a red front sight and a green rear sight, the carbine utilizes fiber optic technology to deliver enhanced contrast, even under bright sunlight. The front sight offers horizontal adjustment, while the rear sight is fully adjustable for both vertical and horizontal positioning.
An 11 mm standard mounting rail is integrated into the top of the air rifle, allowing for the attachment of a scope. Picatinny rails are positioned on the front end of the handguard, as well as on the sides and bottom, making it possible to mount accessories such as a laser pointer, bipod, or other tactical equipment.
Elevated cheek pad
The carbine stock features a distinctly elevated cheek piece (cheek pad), providing both right- and left-handed shooters with comfortable and stable support during aiming. Additionally, a riser pad is attached to the cheek pad, enhancing eye alignment for optimal sight picture when using a scope. The pad is designed for quick and easy removal. At the rear, the stock is finished with an adjustable, ventilated rubber butt plate that conforms to the shooter’s build. The grip sections of the handguard are textured, ensuring a secure hold and minimizing the risk of slippage.

It feels impressive in the hands, there’s a sense of respect, but above all, it enchants with how smoothly it works – the trigger is light and doesn’t jerk, the shot is very quiet, and the power is enormous! The pellet even hums in the air, and the four-stroke reloading is pure poetry, a real pleasure. Additionally, the sight adjustment deserves praise.
