The slide is constructed from metal, while the frame is made of durable polymer material. Officially licensed manufacturer markings from Walther Arms are present on both the slide and the frame.

The PDP Compact operates on compressed carbon dioxide supplied by a 12-gram CO2 capsule, which is inserted directly into the magazine. In addition to the CO2 cartridge, the magazine accommodates 8 BBs.

The primary benefit and a key advantage of the Walther PDP Compact is the ability to fire multiple types of BBs. The magazine can be loaded with rubber, pepper, powder, or even a mix of different BB types. This versatility makes the pistol not only a reliable self-defense tool but also an effective training weapon with attributes akin to airsoft or paintball models. With high power output, the pistol delivers an exhilarating experience for recreational silhouette shooting and for destroying improvised targets.

Mechanical sighting systems—front and rear—are located on the rear of the slide. Vivid white contrast dots enhance visibility and make rapid aiming easy, even in poor lighting conditions.

A Blow Back system has been incorporated, simulating slide recoil to further emulate the real firearm experience. With every shot, the slide cycles robustly back and forth. Once the last BB has been discharged from the magazine, the slide remains locked in the rear position, exactly like the original firearm.

The pistol features an ambidextrous slide release and a reversible magazine release, enabling customization to match user preferences.

Positioned on the front of the frame beneath the barrel is a standard Weaver mounting rail, enabling the attachment of accessories such as flashlights or laser sights.

The slide is prepped for mounting collimators from Vortex, C-More, Leupold, and Trijicon.
