The backpack made a very good first impression. It looks really well-made and durable. Very spacious, despite not being very large, and comfortable.
Wisport Sparrow Backpack 20 l - MAPA
An updated edition of the bestselling Sparrow pack! This compact military and survival backpack offers a capacity of 20 l and is crafted from 500D Cordura in MAPA camouflage. Drawing inspiration from the renowned urban Raven model, the construction has been enhanced for demanding field operations.
Durable Cordura construction
Constructed from robust 500D Cordura, the backpack is designed to withstand intense mechanical stress, including abrasion and tearing. Such material ensures outstanding durability for demanding environments and challenging terrain.
2 compartments, 5 pockets, hydration system
The Sparrow II backpack features two generous compartments. Within the primary 17 l compartment, four D-rings have been stitched to the back panel, offering mounting points for additional gear. The secondary section comes with a redesigned organizer to efficiently arrange smaller essentials. Mesh pockets located in the main compartment are secured by zipper closures. The top flap is equipped with a flat pocket that matches the length of the main compartment and is approximately 4 cm deep, suitable for storing maps, documents, or even a compact laptop. An extra small flat pocket can also be found on the front of the lid.
Inside the pack are a hydration bladder hook, a hose port, and dual hose attachment points—one located on each shoulder strap.
Main closure and protective flaps
A two-way zipper forms the primary closure of the backpack, extending along three sides of the lid to ensure wide access to the interior of both the main and auxiliary compartments. Every zipper is durable and wear-resistant, equipped with textile pullers for effortless operation, even when wearing gloves or working in challenging environments. Protective cover flaps shield the zippers of the main compartments and front pocket, effectively helping to block water and dirt from getting inside.
Carrying system, compression straps, transport handle
The ACS – Air Comfort System suspension system provides structural stability, high wearing comfort, and optimal back ventilation. Enhanced comfort comes from quick-release, anatomically contoured, adjustable shoulder straps and an added chest strap. The inner sides of the straps utilize dense, snag-resistant fabric for durability.
On both sides of the backpack, two adjustable compression straps with fastex 30 mm buckles are present. These allow for adjusting pack volume and enable secure attachment of additional equipment, such as a jacket, tarp, sleeping mat, or a camouflage net. A broad, elongated transport handle is located at the top of the main compartment, ensuring easy portability.
MOLLE / PALS
Equipped with MOLLE/PALS webbing on the front, bottom, and sides, the backpack allows for attachment of extra pouches or gear that must remain within urgent need reach.
Velcro panel
Located on the front side of the backpack, a velcro panel enables the attachment of patches or emblems, such as unit insignia, national flags, or morale patches.
MAPA camouflage
MAPA camouflage pattern, created by Maciej Dojlitko—an alumnus and current researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk—stands out for its innovative approach. Dojlitko also authored The Theory of Deconstructing the Visual Message. Tools for Designing Military Camouflage (Gdańsk 2015). Supported by solid theoretical and experimental foundations, including computerized analysis of thousands of landscape photographs, the project quickly drew the attention of military apparel specialists and manufacturers. MAPA camouflage premiered publicly in 2017 at the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce, featured in the Dromader equipment and uniform system designed by Maskpol—part of the Polish Armaments Group. The original intent was for use by soldiers of the Territorial Defence Forces, while the MAPA design was also evaluated as a potential successor to wz.93 camouflage across the Polish Armed Forces. Although recognized for its advanced features, MAPA has not yet been officially introduced as the standard camouflage for the Polish Army.
Notable characteristics of the MAPA camouflage in its primary woodland configuration:
- Six distinct colors arranged in layered patterns reminiscent of map contour lines,
- A color palette tailored for effectiveness in Central European woodland environments,
- Incorporation of a 3D illusion and anamorphic visual effects,
- Biomorphic patterns that replicate the forms of natural vegetation,
- Use of high-contrast features to simulate natural highlights and shadow,
- Macropatterning utilized to break up the human outline,
- Micropatterning employed to mimic subtle color noise within the environment.
MAPA pattern serves as a compelling alternative to leading modern camouflage solutions like PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn, or Finnish M/05. In various respects, the design offers more advanced features and more accurately captures the hues present in Central European forests during the period from late spring through early autumn.

Cordura is a material woven from durable nylon fibers, developed by DuPont. The structure of the material provides lightness and abrasion resistance, as well as weather resistance. Due to its properties, Cordura is widely used in tactical equipment.
Fastex buckles are a popular type of fastener consisting of two parts that snap together, and pressing both sides of the buckle on the sides causes it to come undone. They are often used to fasten belts, backpack pockets and other items where fast and secure fastening and unfastening are crucial.
ACS (Air Comfort System) is a ventilated carrying system that improves comfort while wearing the backpack. The use of a wide ventilation channel and a wide back panel provides better air circulation between the backpack and the user's back, as well as adequate rigidity and stability.
MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) is a system for attachment of tactical equipment, used for example in backpacks or tactical vests. It provides the possibility of flexible and modular placement of various accessories and pockets, which allows personalization and optimal adjustment of the item to the specific needs of the user. It is widely used by the military, special services and survival and outdoor enthusiasts.
High-quality buckles and fasteners distinguished by their durability and reliability. Made of durable materials such as nylon or polyamide, used in products that require a solid and secure fastener, providing security and comfort.
Duraflex buckles are a type of high-quality buckles and fasteners made of durable materials such as polyamide or polypropylene. They are weatherproof, UV-resistant and resistant to mechanical damage. Duraflex are used for fastening and adjusting in backpacks, bags, clothing and military equipment, providing reliable and durable fastening solutions.
PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) is a modular mounting system for pockets and pouches, used in the MOLLE system. It consists of horizontally sewn rows of 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide, fixed spacing webbing (such as on a backpack) and vertical webbing for attachment and threading (on a pocket). This system is usually equipped with snaps, which further secures the pinned items.

I needed an everyday bag, larger than the one I had before. I decided to give this model a try and bought it. I am satisfied with my choice – the bag is carefully made, has very well-designed pockets and straps, making it extremely practical. For me, it's a perfect choice, and I highly recommend it with a clear conscience.
-
The backpack served me for almost two years; I only switched to another model because the 20-liter version was just a bit too small for me. The backpack is indestructible and comfortable. A worthy companion for day trips or everyday carry. If 20 liters is enough for you and you don't need side pockets, for example for a water bottle, I would go for the Sparrow without hesitation, or consider the 30-liter version or the Sparrow 303, which unfortunately I haven't had a chance to test yet, but at first glance it seems ideal. - my main reason for changing companions was the lack of side pockets for a bottle.
-
I already have the Sparrow in the 16 and 30 versions, so I know these are solid backpacks. This time, I chose the 20 model because it makes great use of Easyjet's smaller hand luggage limit, and in addition, I can easily expand it thanks to the molle system and straps on the top and/or bottom. The backpack is very well made and has many compartments for small EDC items. The material is very durable, so it should last for years. The price is not low, but you have to pay for high quality.
-
The Wisport Sparrow II 20 l backpack combines a compact size with a durable construction. It's lightweight while also offering practical pockets for storing essentials. Solid materials and reinforced seams ensure long-lasting use. Ergonomic shoulder straps and the carrying system provide comfort, even when fully loaded.
-
Nice backpack, basically in every aspect. For me, the downside is the weight – made of good Cordura, so it has to weigh a bit, but for daily work it's a little heavy, especially at the end of the day. But the quality of workmanship is absolutely fine.
-
The backpack turned out to be brilliant, a backpack that is spacious, comfortable and of course durable. As always, the Polish company Wisport rose to the challenge. Every function was carefully thought out, especially compared to the first version of the backpack. I recommend it to everyone, great product.
-
I bought the backpack in July 2021. It has been used intensively, almost every day. Great backpack. During washing, the molle straps got a bit damaged. For the next washes, I used a protective lining. I see that the price has increased significantly – 4 years ago it cost 299 PLN.
-
Very high-quality workmanship, lots of different pockets, and a comfortable thick foam on the straps. The material feels very durable, the price is high but the quality is absolutely adequate.
-
Wisport Sparrow 20L, a true classic. The backpack is almost perfect. Superb quality of workmanship. Polish product. Backpack for EDC, school, etc. Proven by many users. I recommend it.
-
It is practically a faithful copy of the Sparrow 30, but smaller :) which makes it great for everyday use, because 30 liters is quite large and if you don't fill it up, it gets a bit floppy. Honestly recommend it as an EDC backpack.
-
Solid, well-designed gear. It works both for everyday use and for outings in the field. Very durable material, resistant to abrasion and moisture, gives a sense of reliability. 20 liters capacity, well-thought-out pocket layout. You can conveniently organize your gear, and the MOLLE system allows for easy expansion. The backpack is comfortable even during long wear – well-profiled straps and a stiffened back ensure comfort and stability. Suitable for anyone who needs a durable and functional backpack without unnecessary frills. Wisport delivered, as always – I recommend it.
-
Worth its price! Very sleek appearance combined with functionality. Well made, lots of adjustment options, a very well-thought-out layout of pockets and compartments. I recommend it!
-
A universal backpack for a one-day trip to the countryside and the city or for everyday work. Sparrow 20 serves as a substitute for the Sparrow 30 when I need something smaller. Additionally, the backpack can be expanded with dedicated side pockets or other pouches in the molle system.
-
I already have the Sparrow 30 backpack but was looking for something smaller for work and this one fits very well. The Sparrow 20 has comfortable straps and can hold drinks, food, and my everyday essentials, plus a small speaker with headphones also fits. It's good to bundle up the hanging strings with elastic cords; there are already 4 on the backpack, but I recommend buying a set of 5 extra for a few złoty, and nothing will get tangled.
