The Gewehr 3 (G3) rifle was produced for several decades by the renowned German company Heckler und Koch GmbH. Since 1959, it was the main rifle of the Bundeswehr. It was also used by many other countries. The very high popularity of the G3 can be evidenced by the fact that it was adopted for armament in about 50 armies around the world. Today, the G3 is no longer manufactured by the German Heckler und Koch GmbH, but it is still produced by other countries, such as Turkey.
During the production period, the G3 carbine lived to see several variations. On its basis, for example, the G3K carbine and the G3ZF selector rifle were created. Interestingly, it was on the basis of the G3 design that the well-known MP5 submachine gun was created. The original G3 is a self-revolving rifle, firing from a closed breech. The magazine holds 20 7.62 x 51mm NATO cartridges. Depending on the version, the buttstock can be either fixed or folding. There is a slotted flame suppressor at the end of the barrel.
