Airgun law in Poland

Airgun law in Poland

All airguns that can be purchased in our online shop do not require a permit. They also do not require any registration. Under Polish law they are not weapons and the provisions of the law on pneumatic weapons cannot be applied to them. From a legal point of view, air guns with a bullet energy of less than 17 J are no different to slingshots.

Legal aspects of purchase and possession

In accordance with the Weapons and Ammunition Act, all air rifles (both threaded barrel and smooth bore) with a projectile energy of less than 17 J (joules) are available in Poland without a permit and without registration.

Together with the goods, you will receive an invoice from us, which certifies that the windcheater has an energy below 17 J.

Also, the mere possession of a windcheater with an energy of less than 17 joules does not entail any legal consequences, as long as you do not use it for an unauthorised purpose.

However, we do recommend that you be sensible when transporting airguns and choosing shooting locations. It is worth bearing in mind that not everyone is sympathetic to the hobby and the sight of us may make some people anxious and nervous.

Wind guns with a bullet energy ABOVE 17 joules, i.e. air guns

These airguns are also available without a permit, but cannot be purchased by mail order. Purchase is only possible in stationary shops. We do not offer air rifles with a bullet energy of more than 17J.

These can only be used at a shooting range. In addition, if you purchase an air rifle with a bullet energy of more than 17 joules, you must register it.

Registration must take place within 5 days of purchase. In order to register the air rifle, it is necessary to obtain:

- a medical examination - an eye examination and a psychotest (a list of doctors who can carry out such examinations can be obtained, for example, at a nearby police station),

- a certificate of no criminal record.

After obtaining these two documents, a special application form must be filled in (to be obtained from the police). The completed application, together with the above-mentioned documents, plus two photographs (as for an ID card), a copy of the ID card and proof of purchase of the wind gun (the originals must be available for inspection), and the stamp duty fee, must be submitted to the police.

We can still expect a community interview - usually obtaining a registration is more of a formality.
