I was looking for boots without a membrane that would be comfortable to wear all day long, whether sitting indoors or covering kilometers out in the field. My choice fell on the Bates Tactical Sport 2 Mid, and at least so far, I do not regret it. The boots are solidly made. They are not overly bulky — they do not have a rubber rand or an excessively raised sole. Because of this, they look quite elegant for this type of footwear and can easily be used as everyday shoes in urban conditions. The lack of a membrane means that the foot breathes quite well in them. Comfortable after a short break-in period. The lacing system could be a bit better (faster). In summary, these are nice boots for the autumn/winter season for someone looking for solid, versatile footwear — both for the field and for the city.

I wore the 8" boots and didn't notice any significant differences. Above all, it's hard to find footwear of such quality at this price – it's really rare. As a former professional soldier (platoon protection commander), I used these boots both during garrison duty and on training grounds. Even wearing them for many hours was no problem. Of course, there are no boots in which you would feel completely comfortable after walking for many hours, but here, the price-to-quality ratio is outstanding. I should add that I did not use any special waterproofing agents – regular shoe polish was enough, and the boots handled it very well. Very good cushioning, comfortable lacing system... I used these boots almost constantly for three or four years – they are really durable. I can wholeheartedly recommend these boots!
