Bestech Knives Platypus Folding Knife - Grey

Folding EDC (Every Day Carry) knife with a Sheepfoot profile blade designed for daily tasks and outdoor activities. The blade is made of high-carbon D2 tool steel.

D2 tool steel, Stonewash finish

The blade with a thickness of 3.5 mm is made from high-carbon D2 tool steel known for its excellent abrasion, chipping, and impact resistance. Due to its high carbon content, it is classified as semi-stainless steel. The blade is finished with the Stonewash method, giving it a satin effect. The steel is hardened to a hardness of 59-61 HRC.

notch in the blade, ceramic bearing, Liner-Lock

The blade opens using a wide notch in the blade or a flipper. The opening process is very smooth thanks to the use of ceramic bearings. User safety is ensured by the classic Liner-Lock mechanism.

G10 laminate handle, tip-up clip

The handle with a non-slip texture is made of G10 laminate. Convenient daily carry is ensured by a resilient clip made of stainless steel, designed for tip-up right carry on the handle, allowing the knife to be clipped to a belt or pocket edge. The rear part of the handle has a hole through which you can thread a lanyard to secure the tool from being lost, a leash, or a keychain.

D2 feature
D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.
G10 feature
G10
G10 is a lightweight and extremely durable material, considered one of the best for knife production. It is created by pressure-pressing fiberglass with phenolic resin, which gives it high durability and resistance to mechanical damage. It is chemically inert, does not conduct electricity, and retains its properties at both low and high temperatures. In terms of parameters, it is similar to carbon fiber, but its production is much cheaper. G10 handles are manufactured by precision cutting and cutting, which increases the cost of processing but ensures a perfect fit and long knife life.
Stonewash feature
Stonewash
Stonewash is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel in a drum filled with stones, ceramic abrasives, or beads. The impact of the material creates a characteristic, irregular pattern with micro-scratches, giving the effect of a matte, slightly “aged” surface with a raw, practical appearance. The finish gives the knife an aesthetic look and masks minor scratches and marks that occur during use, keeping the blade looking like new for longer. The matte texture reduces light reflections, which is valued in tactical and outdoor knives, and the micro-scratches can further reduce friction during cutting. Due to its durability, discreet appearance, and ease of maintenance, stonewash is popular in EDC, field, and tactical knives.
