Boker Plus Kwaiken Grip Auto Spring Knife

A spring-loaded EDC (Everyday Carry) knife, inspired by traditional Japanese knives and designed by American knifemaker Lucas Burnley. The blade, featuring a Straight Back profile, is made of D2 steel, which is highly resistant to wear. The handle is made of lightweight aluminum. The knife is equipped with an automatic opening mechanism, activated by a button on the handle, which also serves as a Button Lock, securing the blade in the open position.

D2 tool steel

The blade is made of D2 tool steel, valued for its high cutting performance and good wear resistance. After proper heat treatment, it achieves a hardness of 57–62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even under heavy use. Although D2 steel is not fully stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient for everyday use.

Slim blade with a Straight Back profile

The slender blade with a Straight Back profile is 85 mm long and 3.2 mm thick, and its smooth cutting edge features a flat grind. This geometry ensures good control over the cut and is ideal for tasks requiring precision. The blade’s satin finish gives it a semi-matte appearance.

Aluminum handle, deep-carry clip

The handle is made of lightweight aluminum with a black coating. Its distinct non-slip texture ensures a secure grip even with wet or dirty hands. Everyday carry is made easier by a spring-loaded, steel deep-carry clip, which allows the knife to be clipped to a belt or the edge of a pocket.

Spring mechanism activated by button

The blade opens automatically when you press the button on the handle, which releases the spring mechanism. The same button also serves as a Button Lock, securing the blade in the open position and allowing for safe use of the knife.

note!

Polish law does not impose any restrictions on knife opening mechanisms. Other countries may have regulations that restrict or prohibit the carrying of certain types of knives—if you’re traveling abroad with a knife, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with those regulations.

D2
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel classified as semi-stainless, characterized by high wear resistance and the ability to maintain a thin, durable edge. It achieves a hardness of 57-62 HRC, which ensures long-lasting sharpness even with intensive use. Its chemical composition is a precisely selected combination of elements: carbon (1.4-1.6%), chromium (11-13%), molybdenum (up to 0.8%), vanadium (up to 1%), manganese (up to 1%), and silicon (up to 1%). The high carbon and chromium content ensures hardness and wear resistance, while molybdenum and vanadium improve the strength and durability of the cutting edge. Although D2 steel is not completely stainless, its corrosion resistance is sufficient to meet the requirements of most conditions of use. It is widely used in the production of mid-range and high-end knives, including handmade knives and cutting tools.
