Boker Plus OTF Lhotak Falcon 2.0 D2 Spring Knife

Boker Plus automatic knife crafted in the OTF (Out The Front) style, featuring a blade that deploys forward through the opening with the aid of a tensioned spring. Austrian bladesmith Raimund Lhotak is the designer behind this model.

IMPORTANT - contrary to prevailing “urban legends,” spring-assisted knives may be legally purchased, owned, and carried. Polish regulations do not place any limits on mechanisms used for opening knives, nor do they restrict blade design or length. In other countries, there may be laws that regulate or ban the carry of specific knife types—prior to traveling internationally with a knife, ensure you are familiar with the applicable regulations.

Reverse Tanto blade profile, D2 tool steel

Featuring a Reverse Tanto blade profile paired with a pronounced concave grind, the blade is crafted from D2 tool steel, hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 58-59 HRC. This steel grade is renowned for its excellent abrasion resistance and provides decent protection against corrosion.

Convenient opening, aluminum grip, spring clip

Blade deployment is managed via a notched slider integrated into the handle. Pushing the slider downward engages the spring mechanism and retracts the blade. The handle is constructed from aluminum with a titanium-based coating. Everyday portability is enhanced by a spring-assisted steel clip.

Constantly in my pocket for two years. I bought it as my first OTF to see if I would like this type of knife and to eventually buy "something better," but I have no intention of changing it. I fell so in love with it that I can't imagine any other EDC knife. The Rat1 ended up in the drawer. D2 steel is completely sufficient. The paint wears off a bit, but that just gives it character :) It definitely works better dry, because when you add oil, it sometimes "falls out of the mechanism," so you have to shake it to get everything back in place. The only downside is the lack of a glass breaker, but you can live without it.

Very good knife. It accompanied me for many years, unfortunately a spring broke due to my own negligence (the knife survived 3 weeks in rough terrain without cleaning, and instead of cleaning it, I tried to force it open). I was really sorry, I get attached to well-made items. I wrote to Böker intending to buy spare parts. They asked me for the receipt, promised to send them as soon as available, and then I lost contact. To my surprise, I received a shipment from Germany for free. Great company and I highly recommend it; the knives are great and the customer service is top notch. Regards.

The only downside is the paint, which quickly rubs off on the corners when carrying in a pocket. Other than that, the mechanism works correctly, the blade is stiff and well contoured. It's light and handy, but you need quite a bit of force to move the slider and activate the mechanism. It has its advantages in terms of safety and prevents accidental opening in your pocket. I recommend it.

Very nice OTF knife from Boker. Light, complete, available in interesting colors. Factory sharp, smooth mechanics, nothing to complain about. I personally recommend it.

After three months of use, I upgrade to five stars. Why? Because after this time I concluded the knife is great. Mechanism flawless (no rattling), blade sharpness flawless. It's great - I RECOMMEND

This is my first automatic spring-assisted knife. It works very smoothly, never jams, moves very lightly. The blade itself is made of good steel, for me it's great.

Let me state up front that I'm not a fan of OTFs, but I bought this knife because the price is quite attractive for this type, and it also looks nice. It's assembled and finished really decently, and the mechanics work almost flawlessly, except for the blade slider which requires significant, and even too much, force to extend the blade. However, the retraction is perfect. The blade is well-shaped, but definitely needs sharpening. It sharpens easily. I used a Spyderco TRI-ANGLE with diamond rods and finally the blade cuts as it should. No blade play vertically, and horizontally it's so minimal that it's almost imperceptible, so it's OK ;) If someone wants a pretty nice little knife for little money, I recommend it.

Knife bought mainly out of curiosity but also with the intention of everyday use. The opening and closing mechanism works properly at the moment (about 2 months of use). You need to apply some force to extend and retract the blade, so accidental opening is unlikely. The blade has slight play, but that's not a flaw, more the nature of the knife. Knife came reasonably sharp. The paint on the scales doesn't seem durable, as it started scratching and rubbing off in places after just a few hours of wearing in sweatpants pockets. Overall, for now, a positive impression; the mechanism sound is nice and makes an impression, as for the price... hard to say, maybe if it's on a bigger sale :)

Knife bought in May 2023 and by December 2023 the mechanism broke despite not being used due to working abroad. Only when I was in Poland it was in my pocket, but even then the mechanism had its quirks and in December it stopped working completely. As an OTF for this price it's ok, but you can't expect anything more than the fact that it's an OTF.

Bought on sale + KSK point, at regular price I rather don't recommend it :) Mine arrived reasonably sharp, two swipes on a 1500 grit stone by hand and it's a razor. In hand it feels more like a bazaar product than a premium one. In my case, the anodizing on the handle had a small chip/spot straight out of the box. Nevertheless, the opening and closing action is super satisfying :D For the curious - the knife doesn't pierce a plastic bottle upon opening, the spring fails... A quick flick helps push it into the guide and it still works - don't test this, it's not a bullet and won't pierce everything when opening :) If you're worried about whether the knife will open on its own in your pocket – that's not possible, you need to really apply a lot of force to the slider to open it. If you crave a Microtech, it's a fun toy to feel what it's like for reasonable money (but only on sale). Still, I'll give it 5 stars because the OTF mechanism is devilishly satisfying, if I'd bought it for 420 PLN I'd give it 3 stars.

One of the better knives in its price category. After over half a year of use, I had to disassemble and clean the knife, which took 10 minutes. It sharpens easily and keeps its edge, and so far has been trouble-free. I do not recommend using lubrication, as it works better dry since it doesn't collect dirt.

5 stars, but only thanks to the low price for an OTF. Pros: very good mechanics, deep carry clip, ergonomics, weight. Cons: slight play, arrives dull, and as is traditional for this company, a weak coating on the aluminum.

Nice knife, but it arrives dull. I even had an impression that the edge is crooked on one side and I had to fix it a lot with a Leatherman diamond file. A regular stone or sharpener can't handle sharpening the knife. The paint on the body is also not great and quickly scrapes off from normal carry. Apart from those two complaints, the knife is quite nice, but it's best to buy on sale because for 450 PLN, I'd rather add more for a Cobratec or Templar Knife.

Very nice knife, the blade is quite small but sufficient. My partner said it's a bit intimidating when it comes to the sound of opening and closing. It looks very elegant and is pleasing to the eye. D2 steel is also good, so it can be easily recommended at this price – it's a bargain.

A knife at an affordable price compared to competitive models is a positive surprise, but it's the build quality that really makes it stand out on the market. Solid materials and careful construction ensure that this knife will serve for a long time. Additionally, the ease of use and practicality of the OTF make it not only an economical, but also a functional choice. This is an excellent tool for both beginners and experienced knife enthusiasts.
