Cold Steel Drop Forged Bowie 52100 Fixed Bade Knife Black

A durable, sturdy survival knife made from a single piece of forged 52100 steel. The handle is made of a material that resembles deer antlers. Thanks to its sturdy construction, it’s perfect for heavy-duty work in the great outdoors as a survival or bushcraft knife.

52100 high-carbon steel

The blade is made of 52100 high-carbon steel, which is characterized by excellent resistance to mechanical damage and long-lasting sharpness.

full flat grind, black protective coating

Clip-Point blade is 241 mm long and 5 mm thick. It features a full flat grind, which guarantees excellent cutting performance. The grind, combined with the blade’s geometry, ensures outstanding penetration capabilities at the tip of the knife. The entire knife has been coated with a black protective finish to protect the steel from corrosion.

synthetic scales, double-sided cross guard

The scales of the ergonomically contoured handle are made of plastic that mimics deer antlers. The double-sided cross guard prevents the hand from sliding down onto the blade while working. There is a hole at the end of the handle for threading a safety cord.

Secure-Ex sheath

The set includes a polymer Secure-Ex sheath that can be worn on a belt or attached to gear.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
52100 feature
52100
52100 is an American bearing steel with a carbon content of 0.98-1.1%, valued in cutlery for its strength, resistance to chipping, and ability to maintain sharpness. The chromium content (1.3-1.6%) improves abrasion resistance and aids the hardening process. It also contains manganese (0.25-0.45%) and silicon (0.15-0.35%), which increase the strength and elasticity of the steel. After proper hardening, the steel reaches a hardness of 62-64 HRC, making it an ideal material for the production of bushcraft, survival, and hunting knives. Although it is not stainless steel and requires proper maintenance and protective coatings, its cutting properties and wear resistance make it one of the best choices among traditional carbon steels.
