Cold Steel Laredo Bowie Fixed Blade Knife 4034SS

A sturdy fixed-blade knife with a Bowie-style profile. The wide blade features a full flat grind and is finished with a satin finish. The blade is made of 4034SS stainless steel, which is highly corrosion-resistant and easy to sharpen. The black handle is made of Micarta. The set includes a Secure-Ex sheath with holes and eyelets for multi-position attachment to a belt or other gear.

4034SS stainless steel

The blade is made of high-quality 4034SS stainless steel, which is characterized by high resistance to corrosion and oxidation, as well as good elasticity. After hardening, the steel achieves a moderate hardness in the range of 54–57 HRC, which makes it easy to sharpen the cutting edge.

Bowie profile blade, satin finish

The blade, with a Bowie profile, is 267 mm long and 8 mm thick. The smooth blade features a full flat grind, and the surface has been finished using a satin finish, which leaves an even, linear pattern after processing, reduces glare on the blade’s surface, and helps conceal minor scuffs that develop during use. The spine of the blade near the tip has been sharpened, which allows for reverse cuts and significantly increases the knife’s piercing ability. The cutting edge has been ground with great precision and is additionally slightly curved, which improves efficiency when cutting, chopping, or hacking.

Micarta handle, steel cross guard

The handle is made of black Micarta based on linen fabric. Its contoured shape fits the hand well, ensuring a secure grip while working. The material is characterized by high resistance to mechanical damage and weather conditions. A double-sided steel cross guard prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade.

Secure-Ex sheath

The sheath is made using the Secure-Ex system from weather-resistant plastic. The sheath holds the knife securely in place thanks to its custom-fit opening and snap-fastened loop, which reduces the risk of the knife accidentally falling out. The loop makes it easy to attach to a belt, and numerous holes and grommets allow for multi-position mounting to other pieces of gear as well.

Militaria.pl is the official distributor of Cold Steel.

Cold Steel is a respected American brand of knives, machetes, and tactical tools, founded in 1980 in Irving, California. The company gained popularity thanks to innovative solutions such as Kraton® handles and American Tanto blades, appreciated by uniformed services and military enthusiasts. It also introduced its own steel alloys, such as San Mai III®, which provides high durability and wear resistance. Cold Steel patented the Tri-Ad™ Lock blade locking mechanism, which guarantees safe use. The brand works with respected knifemakers, including the company's founder Lynn C. Thompson and Andrew Demko, whose passion and experience contribute to the high quality of the products.

Secure-Ex feature
Secure-Ex
Secure-Ex is a system developed by Cold Steel, designed for the safe storage and convenient carrying of knives and tools. Sheaths made with this technology are lightweight, durable, and weather-resistant, making them suitable even for intensive use. They hold the knife securely in the sheath while allowing for quick and smooth draw. The system has a modular design - the sheaths can be supplemented with various fasteners, such as buckles, clips (e.g., C-Clip) or ball chains. This allows the knife to be worn on a belt, around the neck, or in other configurations, according to the user's preferences.
4034SS feature
4034SS
4034SS - an alternative designation for Krupp 4034 steel, also known as X46Cr13 or 1.4034, is a German martensitic stainless steel developed by ThyssenKrupp. The carbon content of 0.46% ensures moderate hardness, while chromium (13%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also has good hardenability and structural stability thanks to the addition of manganese (approx. 1%) and silicon (approx. 1%). After hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 54-57 HRC, which ensures a durable but easy-to-resharpen edge. Thanks to its combination of corrosion resistance, easy maintenance, and good elasticity, 4034SS is a popular choice for the production of everyday carry (EDC) knives, hunting and kitchen knives, and tools.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Micarta feature
Micarta
Micarta is a composite material made of layers of fabric (including canvas, linen, and paper) soaked in resin and pressed under high pressure and temperature. It is characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to impact, abrasion, and changing weather conditions, as well as dimensional stability, which makes it ideal for knife handles. The surface of Micarta provides a secure grip and can be finished smooth or left with a slight texture to improve control over the tool. The material does not conduct heat or electricity, tolerates contact with moisture well, and acquires a characteristic patina over time, emphasizing the individual style of the knife. Thanks to its combination of durability, environmental resistance, and unique appearance, Micarta is widely used in EDC, outdoor, and collector's knives.
