Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite Folding Knife 4116 - Black

Engineered for everyday carry (EDC), this folding knife is a compact version of the renowned Tuff Lite series models. Outfitted with a Sheepsfoot blade profile, the knife features German 4116 Krupp steel known for its exceptional corrosion resistance. The plain edge blade boasts a satin finish for a refined appearance. A blue handle, crafted from Griv-Ex composite with a textured, non-slip surface, offers a secure grip. Effortless one-handed opening is enabled by the thumb hole, while the Tri-Ad Lock mechanism guarantees reliable safety during use.

German 4116 Krupp steel

Forged from German 4116 Krupp stainless steel, the blade delivers reliable durability, excellent resistance to corrosion, and satisfactory edge retention. Thanks to precise heat treatment, the steel reaches a hardness of 55-57 HRC, providing an ideal balance for daily tasks and straightforward maintenance.

Sheepsfoot blade with satin finish

Featuring a blade with a Sheepsfoot profile, this tool boasts a length of 51 mm and a thickness of 2.5 mm. The plain cutting edge is designed with a high hollow grind for optimal performance. A satin finish gives the blade a semi-matte appearance, not only elevating its look but also improving resistance to scratches. Along the spine, jimping provides enhanced grip and precise control for the thumb during operation.

Scales made of Griv-Ex composite, steel clip

An ergonomically contoured handle features scales crafted from Griv-Ex composite, known for its high resistance to mechanical impact and environmental conditions. The scales' non-slip texture ensures a secure grip even when hands are wet or dirty, while precisely shaped finger grooves provide superior control over the tool.

A spring steel clip allows for easy and reliable everyday carry, enabling rapid attachment of the knife to a belt or the edge of a pocket. A lanyard hole is integrated into the handle’s end for additional carrying options.

Tri-Ad Lock, Thumb hole

Deployment of the blade is facilitated by a thumb hole integrated into the blade. Once opened, the blade is locked in place by the Tri-Ad Lock, an enhanced Back-Lock mechanism offering superior resistance to impact and dynamic forces. Among folding knives, this system stands out as one of the most robust and reliable locking mechanisms available. The lock also provides effective prevention against accidental blade deployment when the knife is closed.

4116 Krupp feature
4116 Krupp
4116 Krupp is the trade name for high-quality stainless steel from the German DIN 1.4116 group, produced by ThyssenKrupp. It is used in kitchen knives and medical instruments. The carbon content (0.45-0.55%) ensures good hardness and edge durability, while chromium (14-15%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.6%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), and a small amount of nickel (up to 1%). It achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for knives with good cutting properties, easy maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Tri-Ad Lock feature
Tri-Ad Lock
Tri-Ad Lock is a lock developed by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko, considered one of the strongest systems in folding knives. Its key element is a stop pin, which takes the pressure from the blade and distributes it to the handle, protecting the lock from wear and overload. The mechanism is designed to self-adjust over time, which maintains the reliability of the lock even after prolonged use. In tests, it has proven resistant to loads of up to hundreds of pounds, confirming its durability.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Griv-Ex feature
Griv-Ex
Griv-Ex is a durable glass-nylon composite reinforced with fiberglass used by Cold Steel, mainly for the production of knife handles, and in some models also for blade components. The material has a textured surface on the handles, which ensures a secure, non-slip grip, and its maintenance usually boils down to simple washing under running water. Griv-Ex is distinguished by its resistance to moisture, corrosion, mechanical damage, and extreme temperatures, and does not warp or crack under harsh conditions. When used in the construction of blades, it is additionally stabilized by UV rays and heat, which further increases its durability.

The knife is really brilliant, very well-thought-out design. I have quite large hands, but still it sits securely thanks to the shape of the handle and the blade, which is also extremely sharp and cuts through cords, cartons, paper, and generally can chew through most materials. Most importantly, it has a solid Tri-Ad lock, which is probably the safest lock in folding knives, although you should always be cautious and take care when using it. I carry it every day for city EDC, it’s lightweight, doesn’t draw attention, but does its job. Highly recommend it from the bottom of my heart.

A very small but surprisingly useful knife. The size and shape of the blade make it perfect for opening packages, boxes, and tags. Despite its small size, the knife feels secure and comfortable in the hand.

In my opinion, it's perfect as a complement to an EDC knife, which I personally don't want to use for opening packages and dulling on cartons. Unlike its bigger brother, it's perfect. Very sharp!
