Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite Folding Knife 4116 - Black

Folding knife crafted for everyday carry (EDC), presented as a miniature version of the Tuff Lite series models. Features a sheepsfoot blade profile forged from German 4116 Krupp steel, renowned for its superior corrosion resistance. The plain-edge blade boasts a satin finish. The handle, colored black, is constructed from Griv-Ex composite and offers a non-slip texture. Blade deployment is facilitated by a thumb hole, while the Tri-Ad Lock mechanism provides reliable and secure operation.

German 4116 Krupp steel

Forged from German 4116 Krupp stainless steel, the blade offers impressive strength, reliable corrosion resistance, and solid edge retention. Thanks to precise heat treatment, the steel achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC, ensuring the knife is ideal for daily tasks and remains easy to sharpen and maintain.

sheepsfoot blade with satin finish

Equipped with a Sheepsfoot profile blade, measuring 51 mm in length and 2.5 mm in thickness. A high hollow grind ensures the cutting edge remains smooth for precise performance. The satin finish delivers a semi-matte look, enhancing style while providing added resistance to scratches. Along the spine, jimping is placed at the thumb rest, offering increased control and confidence during use.

Griv-Ex composite scales, steel clip

The handle, designed with an ergonomic profile, features scales crafted from Griv-Ex composite, a material known for its high resistance to mechanical wear and adverse environmental conditions. The non-slip texture of the scales ensures a reliable hold, even when hands are wet or dirty, while pronounced finger grooves provide enhanced control during use.

A springy steel clip allows for easy and secure everyday carry, offering hassle-free attachment of the knife to a belt or pocket edge. At the handle’s end, a lanyard hole is included for added versatility.

Tri-Ad Lock, Thumb hole

Deployment of the blade is achieved via a hole in the blade (thumb hole). In the open position, the blade is locked firmly in place by a Tri-Ad Lock, an enhanced version of the Back-Lock that offers superior resistance to dynamic forces. Recognized as one of the most robust and durable locking mechanisms for folding knives, the Tri-Ad Lock also delivers exceptional protection against accidental opening when the knife is in the folded position.

4116 Krupp feature
4116 Krupp
4116 Krupp is the trade name for high-quality stainless steel from the German DIN 1.4116 group, produced by ThyssenKrupp. It is used in kitchen knives and medical instruments. The carbon content (0.45-0.55%) ensures good hardness and edge durability, while chromium (14-15%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.6%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), and a small amount of nickel (up to 1%). It achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for knives with good cutting properties, easy maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Tri-Ad Lock feature
Tri-Ad Lock
Tri-Ad Lock is a lock developed by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko, considered one of the strongest systems in folding knives. Its key element is a stop pin, which takes the pressure from the blade and distributes it to the handle, protecting the lock from wear and overload. The mechanism is designed to self-adjust over time, which maintains the reliability of the lock even after prolonged use. In tests, it has proven resistant to loads of up to hundreds of pounds, confirming its durability.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Griv-Ex feature
Griv-Ex
Griv-Ex is a durable glass-nylon composite reinforced with fiberglass used by Cold Steel, mainly for the production of knife handles, and in some models also for blade components. The material has a textured surface on the handles, which ensures a secure, non-slip grip, and its maintenance usually boils down to simple washing under running water. Griv-Ex is distinguished by its resistance to moisture, corrosion, mechanical damage, and extreme temperatures, and does not warp or crack under harsh conditions. When used in the construction of blades, it is additionally stabilized by UV rays and heat, which further increases its durability.

The knife is really brilliant, very well-thought-out design. I have quite large hands, but still it sits securely thanks to the shape of the handle and the blade, which is also extremely sharp and cuts through cords, cartons, paper, and generally can chew through most materials. Most importantly, it has a solid Tri-Ad lock, which is probably the safest lock in folding knives, although you should always be cautious and take care when using it. I carry it every day for city EDC, it’s lightweight, doesn’t draw attention, but does its job. Highly recommend it from the bottom of my heart.

A very small but surprisingly useful knife. The size and shape of the blade make it perfect for opening packages, boxes, and tags. Despite its small size, the knife feels secure and comfortable in the hand.

In my opinion, it's perfect as a complement to an EDC knife, which I personally don't want to use for opening packages and dulling on cartons. Unlike its bigger brother, it's perfect. Very sharp!
