Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite Folding Knife 4116 - OD Green

A folding knife crafted for everyday carry (EDC), offered as a compact version of the renowned Tuff Lite series. The blade features a sheepsfoot profile constructed from German 4116 Krupp steel, delivering excellent resistance to corrosion. The plain edge blade showcases a satin finish for a sleek appearance. The handle, presented in olive green, is made from Griv-Ex composite and equipped with a non-slip texture for enhanced grip. A thumb hole enables easy blade deployment, while the Tri-Ad Lock mechanism provides secure usage.

German 4116 Krupp steel

Forged from German 4116 Krupp stainless steel, the blade delivers excellent durability, impressive resistance to corrosion, and reliable edge retention. A precise heat treatment process allows the steel to reach a hardness of 55-57 HRC, ensuring the knife is ideal for daily tasks and remains straightforward to upkeep.

Sheepsfoot blade with satin finish

Equipped with a Sheepsfoot profile, the blade measures 51 mm in length and 2.5 mm in thickness. Featuring a smooth edge with a pronounced high hollow grind, the blade’s satin finish creates a semi-matte appearance that boosts visual appeal and enhances resistance to scratches. Along the spine, precise jimping at the thumb rest area delivers superior tool control during use.

Griv-Ex composite scales, steel clip

The ergonomically contoured handle incorporates scales crafted from Griv-Ex composite, offering high resistance to mechanical impacts and environmental conditions. Thanks to the non-slip texture of the scales, a firm hold is assured even when your hand is wet or soiled, while the finger grooves provide enhanced control and precision in handling the tool.

Aiding in daily, convenient transport, a spring steel clip allows for rapid and secure attachment of the knife to the edge of a pocket or belt. Additionally, a lanyard hole is situated at the end of the handle.

Tri-Ad Lock, Thumb hole

A thumb hole in the blade allows for easy blade deployment. Once opened, the blade is locked in place by the Tri-Ad Lock, a state-of-the-art upgrade of the Back-Lock mechanism, offering superior resistance to heavy and sudden forces. Among folding knife locking systems, the Tri-Ad Lock stands out as one of the most robust and dependable. Additionally, the locking mechanism provides exceptional safety by securely preventing the blade from accidental opening while folded.

4116 Krupp feature
4116 Krupp
4116 Krupp is the trade name for high-quality stainless steel from the German DIN 1.4116 group, produced by ThyssenKrupp. It is used in kitchen knives and medical instruments. The carbon content (0.45-0.55%) ensures good hardness and edge durability, while chromium (14-15%) guarantees high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The steel also contains molybdenum (up to 0.6%), vanadium (up to 0.2%), manganese (up to 1%), silicon (up to 1%), and a small amount of nickel (up to 1%). It achieves a hardness of 55-57 HRC after appropriate heat treatment, which allows for knives with good cutting properties, easy maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Tri-Ad Lock feature
Tri-Ad Lock
Tri-Ad Lock is a lock developed by Cold Steel and Andrew Demko, considered one of the strongest systems in folding knives. Its key element is a stop pin, which takes the pressure from the blade and distributes it to the handle, protecting the lock from wear and overload. The mechanism is designed to self-adjust over time, which maintains the reliability of the lock even after prolonged use. In tests, it has proven resistant to loads of up to hundreds of pounds, confirming its durability.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
Griv-Ex feature
Griv-Ex
Griv-Ex is a durable glass-nylon composite reinforced with fiberglass used by Cold Steel, mainly for the production of knife handles, and in some models also for blade components. The material has a textured surface on the handles, which ensures a secure, non-slip grip, and its maintenance usually boils down to simple washing under running water. Griv-Ex is distinguished by its resistance to moisture, corrosion, mechanical damage, and extreme temperatures, and does not warp or crack under harsh conditions. When used in the construction of blades, it is additionally stabilized by UV rays and heat, which further increases its durability.

The knife is really brilliant, very well-thought-out design. I have quite large hands, but still it sits securely thanks to the shape of the handle and the blade, which is also extremely sharp and cuts through cords, cartons, paper, and generally can chew through most materials. Most importantly, it has a solid Tri-Ad lock, which is probably the safest lock in folding knives, although you should always be cautious and take care when using it. I carry it every day for city EDC, it’s lightweight, doesn’t draw attention, but does its job. Highly recommend it from the bottom of my heart.

A very small but surprisingly useful knife. The size and shape of the blade make it perfect for opening packages, boxes, and tags. Despite its small size, the knife feels secure and comfortable in the hand.

In my opinion, it's perfect as a complement to an EDC knife, which I personally don't want to use for opening packages and dulling on cartons. Unlike its bigger brother, it's perfect. Very sharp!
