If I had to choose one Cold Steel knife, I would pick the SRK made of SK5 steel. The SRK's blade is very durable and stays sharp for a long time, making it perfect for all kinds of camps, bivouacs, or other outdoor activities. What I especially appreciate about this knife is the handle, which is very comfortable and provides a secure grip, even when working in very dirty or wet gloves. I also like the look of the knife itself. This black coating on the steel is not only practical but also gives the knife a brilliant appearance. The sheath is also noteworthy because the knife can be mounted easily however and wherever you want. It holds the knife very firmly, so I am sure I won't lose it during any activities. I use it for all those tougher tasks, such as carving bigger sticks, batoning, and much more. It's also great for more precise work, although a smaller knife would be even better for that. Still, without hesitation, if I had to choose one knife, it would be the Cold Steel SRK SK-5—for its reliability, versatility, and durability.
Cold Steel SRK SK5 Fixed Blade Knife - Desert Tan

Equipped with a clip-point blade crafted from high-carbon SK-5 steel, renowned for impressive strength and long-lasting edge retention. The package includes a sheath designed with the Secure‑Ex system for easy and reliable belt carry or attachment to tactical equipment.
The SRK model has earned recognition among military personnel and law enforcement, trusted by Navy SEALs throughout BUDS (Basic Underwater Demolition Training) exercises.
SK-5 tool steel resistant to cracking
Forged from SK-5 tool steel, the blade delivers exceptional durability and is highly resistant to cracking, chipping, and dulling, while remaining easy to re-sharpen. With a hardened structure reaching a hardness of 63-65 HRC, the blade ensures outstanding abrasion resistance and superior longevity.
Clip-Point blade coated with Tuff-Ex
Equipped with a Clip-Point profile, the smooth blade measures 152 mm in length and 5 mm in thickness. Crafted with a hollow grind, the blade delivers both efficient cutting and high precision for detailed tasks. A black, matte Tuff-Ex finish coats the blade, effectively preventing reflections and providing corrosion resistance. Featuring a shortened ricasso, the design allows the cutting edge to extend sooner, increasing the overall cutting length.
Handle with Kray-Ex, Full Length Tang construction
Equipped with a handle crafted from Kray-Ex material and featuring deep texturing, the knife ensures a secure grip, even when hands are wet or soiled. The design includes a Full Length Tang construction, where the blade’s tang extends through the entire handle, remaining only slightly narrower at the end. A cross guard offers additional protection by preventing fingers from sliding onto the blade. The handle is also outfitted with a hole for attaching a lanyard or strap.
Sheath with Secure-Ex system, multi-position mounting capability
The knife comes with a sheath crafted using the Secure-Ex system, constructed from a lightweight, rugged, and weatherproof material. A precision-molded inlet combined with a snap-secured loop ensures the knife remains firmly in place, minimizing the risk of accidental loss. The loop provides convenient attachment to a belt, while multiple holes and grommets offer versatile mounting options to belts or other equipment.

SK-5 steel belongs to a series of Japanese tool steel (Steel Kuogu) with high carbon content and good wear resistance. It is equivalent to American 1080 steel and is also designated as SK-85. It contains about 0.8-0.9% carbon, which gives it high hardness and very good cutting properties. The addition of manganese (0.1-0.5%) improves hardenability, silicon (0.1-0.35%) increases elasticity and strength, and small amounts of chromium (about 0.3%) and copper (up to 0.025%) promote the steel's wear resistance and slow down degradation processes. The presence of nickel (up to 0.25%) further enhances strength, while low sulfur and phosphorus content reduces the material's brittleness. After quenching, SK-5 reaches a hardness of up to 63-65 HRC, and its martensitic structure with fine carbides provides a favorable combination of wear resistance and mechanical strength. Thanks to these properties, the steel is used in chisels, saws, springs, drills, and in utility and tactical knives.

The sharpness holds up decently. Admittedly, after a while of use, it’s no longer a "razor blade," so it won’t cut paper or shave hair, but it still cuts wood very well all the time. So far, I’ve only tested it once during a May weekend. It sliced meat and potatoes, split wood, nothing broke, and it didn’t become overly dull. Only the coating on the blade comes off almost immediately (as you can see in the photos), so it seems to be more decorative than real protection, but aside from that, it works great. If any flaws, problems, or defects appear after longer use, I’ll update the review, although I’ve been using another knife from this manufacturer for about six years now and it’s still perfectly fine.

Very solid and reliable. The blade is durable, holds its sharpness well, and handles tougher tasks. Secure grip, comfortable handle, and overall a piece of equipment you can trust in the field.
-
Very good knife, very comfortable, holds sharpness well, there is no competition at this price, the price-to-quality ratio is very good, I recommend the product and the militaria.pl store.
-
Overall, a solid piece of flat bar for the job. In my opinion, a fairly significant downside is the rubber handle. It's easy to damage, for example during batoning, which happened to me. Hard handles work much better for me (like micarta in Za-pas knives). Overall, it's okay, but I wouldn't buy it again.
-
A excellently crafted knife, the handle 'sticks to the hand', and the length of the knife is perfect. Very sharp and comfortable to use. The sheath has no complaints. Bought on promotion, worth its price.
-
The purchased SRK SK-5 knife does not have a blade with a thickness of 5 mm, but only 4.3 mm at the thickest visible point, that is, right next to the handle. On the box and in the store's description, a thickness of 5 mm is given. I have a good caliper and I know how to use it. Whether the blade steel of this knife is indeed SK-5 steel—I am unable to verify. As for the blade thickness, the received product does not match the store description.

Smaller version of the SRK I like this model even more, smaller can do more It's a pity they sell out so quickly and you have to wait for this model bk, I would gladly buy more pieces
-
At first I thought it was just an ordinary knife But after a trip to the forest (survival), I realized it's a good knife Good weight, large and super sharp Personally, I have no complaints and will buy more in the future
-
Great knife! Perfect size. Fantastic handle in terms of shape, size, and texture. Fits perfectly in my large hands. A real workhorse!!
-
After batoning a few pieces, the knife became loose, the edge dulls very quickly, even at this price range you can buy something better or add a hundred and get something almost indestructible
-
I don't understand the hype about this knife? Besides looking good, it's not a knife you can rely on in the field. During batoning, the blade broke at the handle. It was replaced under warranty and I was sent a new one. The next one, after a short period of use, developed play in the handle. This is a big discomfort when working with the knife, as I don't know if it will completely come out, and we all know how that can end. Besides the fact that it keeps its sharpness well, I wouldn't trade it for my Chinese knife, which cost 60 PLN and is indestructible.
-
I recommend the Cold Steel SRK to everyone. Solid steel, the handle fits perfectly in the hand. The whole thing is solidly made, and when unpacking I noticed the blade was lubricated with oil, which isn't standard. I should add it's incredibly sharp.
-
An outstanding knife. It has a large size, but if someone has a bigger hand, it will be perfect. Rugged and simple. Very convenient to use. The fact that it comes coated with a thick layer of preservative speaks of its quality. An ideal choice when it comes to versatility.

Cold Steel SRK is a real tough guy! The SK5 blade holds an edge, and the whole thing is incredibly solid. Great for survival, bushcraft, and heavy outdoor tasks.
