1055 is a medium-carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.5-0.6%, characterized by a good combination of hardness, impact strength, and resilience. It is a steel with a simple chemical composition, containing mainly carbon and a small amount of manganese (0.6-0.9%), which improves the impact strength and hardenability of the material. Thanks to these properties, 1055 steel is widely used in the production of machetes, bushcraft knives, swords, and tools designed for heavier field work. After proper hardening, the steel achieves a hardness of 54-57 HRC, which ensures high resistance to cracks and chipping, but at the same time makes it easy to sharpen. However, due to its relatively low abrasion resistance and susceptibility to rust, this steel does not retain its sharpness for long.

    A chunk of iron. The throwing knife is huge. It's not a toy by any means. I didn't need it because I have a shared, roll-up case for throwing knives - but information for someone considering buying - the sheath is optional.

    A heavy knife and throwing it is a challenge, but it sticks well. I still haven't mastered the no-spin technique, but it's probably just a so-called 'skill issue'. The tips were not damaged by wood, but by ricocheting off a stone and hitting a nail in a board. I recommend getting a strong target, because my quickly made few planks nailed together split apart in just a few sessions.

    One of probably just two ColdSteel throwing knives currently offered available with a sheath – it's a bit of a shame it's sold separately, but it's still worth getting. Very heavy, at least one of the heaviest (not counting the Torpedo 1"). Flies quite well, but I would recommend it rather to experienced throwers. Only for strong throws, preferably no spin. The target should be quite soft, as ricochets can be dangerous. I recommend it.

    This is not exactly the same product I bought; mine had KL in the name, but it's no longer available in the store, so I'm reviewing this one. This is my first throwing knife and I am very happy with it. Heavy, well-balanced, made of good quality steel – it took me some time before I started hitting the target. I hit a stone a few times, which bent and then broke the knife tip. After sharpening, everything was fine again and I could enjoy the fun all over again. I definitely recommend it.
