Patrol backpack featuring an 18-liter capacity, constructed from robust and abrasion-resistant nylon

The Small model presents a compact and streamlined alternative to the Halifax Medium backpack. The side panels come equipped with a laser-cut MOLLE attachment system, facilitating the addition of extra pouches or a medical kit. Compression straps provide secure fastening for extra gear such as a sleeping bag or mat. Openings situated at the top of the side panels allow routing of the hydration system tube.

A flap with a YKK zipper secures the backpack’s main compartment, which is partially lined with soft velour to accommodate separate organizational inserts. An internal modular system remains compatible with MOLLE/PALS, enabling significant customization and easy adaptation for use as either a medical or tactical assault pack.

Two compartments are placed at the top of the flap; one of them features a soft velour lining for scratch protection, making it ideal for glasses. Additional open pockets on the sides provide space for water bottles or extra gear.

The carrying solution incorporates anatomically shaped shoulder straps padded with softshell and foam, plus adjustable sternum and broad hip belts, both secured with a heavy-duty WooJin buckle.

A vertical loop strip on the front allows for extra gear attachment, and a low-profile velcro panel offers a place for patches, emblems, or Morale Patches.

Solid workmanship, nothing is unraveling, the seams are even, comfort of use is definitely a plus, and the price-to-quality ratio is really good, I can definitely recommend it. The backpack's volume is not overstated; you can pack quite a few things into it.

I have had the backpack for a week and so far it is performing well. The quality of workmanship is flawless and the carrying system is very comfortable. The backpack is bigger than I expected for 18 liters, with many easily accessible outer pockets that let you keep small items available without opening the backpack and rummaging inside. But there is one drawback: the carrying handle is symbolic and uncomfortable. One might think you carry a backpack on your back, not in your hand, but now, having a narrow, uncomfortable handle sewn in at a strange angle, I've realized how often I use it. Picking up the backpack from the floor, holding it while opening, taking it off your back in a crowded tram—only then do you appreciate how comfortable the handle on my old Helikon EDC or even older Sparrow was. That's why only 4 stars.

What surprised me the most about this backpack is its spaciousness. Despite being only 18L, you can easily pack for a whole day hike, an ASG game, and other similar activities. It's quite light and not too big, so it also works for everyday city carry. The workmanship is excellent, Direct Action knows what they're doing. An interesting point is that it's very comfortable to wear even when you have a tactical vest on. I can recommend it without hesitation, it's worth its price.

I bought it to check the dimensions—the depth stated here and pretty much everywhere else as 22.5 is a bit of a mistake because I don't know if it'll even be 12.5 when measuring the bottom. Overall build quality is solid, with a large number of nicely arranged pockets. However, there's just too much of everything here, which results in quite a heavy pack for such a small backpack. The front tape is a bit flimsy—single, not reinforced. Covering the buckles with material is kind of interesting, but it makes them too stiff and hard to use.

This is the first opinion about this backpack, so I'll try to include as much as possible. The carrying system is comfortable and well thought-out. The plastic insert stiffens the backpack and prevents bulges from forming that would dig into your back. The compression straps have velcro sewn in, which is very nice and keeps them from "flapping" around. The back ventilation is also good, practically zero points of contact. Capacity. 18 liters may not sound like much, but here it's absolutely sufficient, whether for a day trip or just for going to work. The suitcase-style opening is very useful. At the bottom of the backpack, there is a zippered pocket where you can successfully keep something small and that requires a safe place, e.g. banknotes. Expandability. The average capacity is compensated by the possibility of adding pockets. MOLLE is not only on the sides, but also at the bottom of the backpack, on the shoulder straps, and in the main compartment (which allows for nice organization of smaller gear). The interior is also lined with velcro panel, so you can simply stick something on. The price is... quite high, it's true. Still, I think it's worth buying. I might even buy a Helifax medium myself someday for bigger trips.
