Temperatures and usage conditions
The temperature ratings of the Svalbard sleeping bag are specified in accordance with EN 13537:
- T-comfort: 8 deg. C - the lowest temperature at which a woman can comfortably sleep through the night,
- T-limit: -4 deg. C - the minimum temperature at which a man can sleep through the night without discomfort,
- T-extreme: -9 deg. C - the lowest temperature at which survival in the sleeping bag is possible. This is not a value recommended for standard use.
10D Rip-Stop nylon with Water Repellent coating
Constructed with lightweight 10D Rip-Stop nylon on both the interior and exterior surfaces, enhanced by a hydrophobic WR coating (Water Repellent) to minimize moisture penetration. The advanced Rip-Stop weave guards effectively against abrasion and mechanical damage, while also inhibiting further tearing. The interior includes a small pocket designed for accessories and features loops for securing an insulating liner.
Goose down filling, H-chamber construction
Superior thermal insulation and optimal air circulation are delivered by a 93+/7 ratio of Polish goose down. Boasting a 900 cuin fill power, the down ensures outstanding compressibility, enabling the sleeping bag to be packed down to a compact size. An H-shaped baffle system maintains even distribution of the down, effectively preventing any migration or clumping. Featuring a drawstring footbox with an additional down layer, the design significantly enhances foot warmth and overall thermal performance.
Right-side zipper, Anti-Bite system
Equipped with a two-way zipper on the right side, the sleeping bag can be opened from the top, providing convenient access when entering or exiting. A fluorescent puller ensures the zipper is easy to find in low-light conditions. The integrated Anti-Bite system effectively prevents the fabric from getting caught in the zipper. Along the inside of the zipper runs a dedicated thermal baffle for enhanced insulation.
Integrated hood with DUO drawcord
Featuring an integrated 3D hood, this design provides superior thermal insulation by closely enveloping the head, effectively minimizing heat loss in cold environments. The ergonomic structure also guards against wind and moisture intrusion. Equipped with a Duo drawcord system, which combines both elastic and strap elements: the elastic section at the neck allows for unrestricted hand movement without frequent adjustments, while the rear strap enables quick loosening when necessary—ideal for rapid response during nighttime operations.
