Temperatures and usage conditions
The temperature ratings of the Svalbard sleeping bag are specified in accordance with EN 13537:
- T-comfort: 5 deg C - the lowest temperature at which a woman can comfortably sleep through the night,
- T-limit: 0 deg C - the minimum temperature at which a man can sleep through the night without discomfort,
- T-extreme: -14 deg C - the lowest temperature at which survival in the sleeping bag is possible. This is not a recommended value for standard use.
10D Rip-Stop nylon with Water Repellent coating
Constructed with lightweight 10D Rip-Stop nylon on both the inside and outside, featuring a hydrophobic WR coating (Water Repellent) to minimize moisture penetration. The specialized treatment reduces water absorption, while the Rip-Stop weave efficiently guards against abrasion and mechanical damage, stopping tears from spreading. An internal small pocket provides storage for accessories, along with integrated loops designed for securing an insulating liner.
Goose down filling, H-chamber construction
Superior thermal insulation and optimal air circulation are provided by Polish goose down in a 93+/7 blend. Featuring an impressive fill power of 900 cuin, the down delivers outstanding compressibility, enabling the sleeping bag to be packed down to a compact size. An H-shaped chamber design ensures the down stays evenly distributed, eliminating the risk of shifting or clumping. The drawstring footbox is fitted with an additional down layer, enhancing thermal comfort for the feet.
Right-side zipper, Anti-Bite system
Equipped with a two-way zipper located on the right side, the sleeping bag can be unzipped from the top for convenient entry and exit. A fluorescent puller makes the zipper easy to find in low-light conditions. The Anti-Bite system is designed to stop the fabric from snagging in the zipper. An internal thermal baffle runs parallel to the zipper for added insulation.
Integrated hood with DUO drawcord
Enhanced thermal protection is provided by the integrated 3D hood, which wraps securely around the head to minimize heat loss in cold conditions. Designed to shield against both wind and moisture, the hood’s profile adds another layer of defense. The Duo drawcord system blends both elastic and strap elements: the elastic section at the neck offers unrestricted hand movement without the need for adjustment, while the rear strap enables rapid loosening—especially advantageous for nighttime operations.
