Temperature ratings and usage conditions
The Svalbard sleeping bag's operational temperature range has been determined according to the EN 13537 standard:
- T-comfort: 2 deg. C – minimum temperature at which a woman can sleep comfortably throughout the night,
- T-limit: -3 deg. C – lowest temperature at which a man can rest without experiencing discomfort,
- T-extreme: -18 deg. C – critical survival temperature. Continuous use under such conditions is not advised.
10D Rip-Stop nylon with Water Repellent coating
Constructed from lightweight 10D nylon featuring a Rip-Stop weave and a hydrophobic WR coating on both the interior and exterior, the material treatment helps minimize moisture absorption. An interior small pocket provides storage for essentials, while loops allow secure attachment of an extra thermal liner.
Duck down filling, H-shaped construction
Superior thermal insulation and optimal air circulation are provided by a filling composed of European duck down and feathers in a 92/8 ratio. The down features a 800 cuin loft and excellent compressibility, making it easy to pack the bag into a compact size. A hydrophobic coating shields the filling from moisture. Thanks to the H-shaped baffle construction, down remains evenly distributed without shifting or clumping. The footbox, designed in the shape of a shark fin, follows the body's natural sleeping position, boosting thermal comfort, allowing greater freedom of movement, reducing pressure points, and promoting improved sleep quality. The bottom of the sleeping bag is angled at 70 degrees.
Right-side zipper, Anti-Bite system
Fitted with a two-way zipper on the right side, enabling complete opening from either the top or the bottom for swift access or exit. A fluorescent puller ensures quick and easy identification of the zipper in low-light conditions. The integrated Anti-Bite system is designed to prevent the fabric from snagging. A thermal baffle inside reinforces the zipper, enhancing insulation. Compatible for coupling with another sleeping bag from the same series.
Integrated hood, DUO drawcord, thermal collar
The integrated 3D hood provides superior thermal insulation by fully enclosing the head, effectively minimizing heat loss in cold environments. The anatomical design increases resistance to wind and moisture. Featuring the DUO drawcord, which blends elastic and webbing, the elastic section around the neck grants freedom of hand movement without the need for frequent adjustment, while the rear webbing strap enables rapid loosening in specific areas—an advantage during night missions. An internal thermal collar, a down-insulated tube equipped with a drawcord at shoulder level, serves as a barrier to prevent cold drafts from entering the sleeping bag. Highly efficient for cold-weather operations.
