I bought the jacket 6 years ago. This will be its 7th season. After that time, the outer pocket came apart, through my own fault. The zipper is slowly wearing out, it snags, but waxing helps. Overall, I’m very satisfied because for Poland’s climate the jacket keeps me warm even at -20 with a fleece underneath. It has a looser fit, so you can really feel the freedom of movement in it. I bought it for 700 PLN, so spending 100 PLN per winter season from October to March not to freeze and to enjoy a great jacket is definitely worth it for me. The jacket hasn’t said its last word yet. Apart from the zipper, which in the worst case I’ll replace completely, it shows no signs of wear.
Helikon-Tex Level 7 Climashield Apex 100 g Jacket - Shadow Grey
Shadow Grey winter jacket offering insulation and protection against the cold, even in extremely low temperatures. The Climashield Apex synthetic fill maintains its insulating properties after exposure to moisture, while the outer fabric featuring Rip-Stop weave increases resistance to tearing. Designed in line with the ECWCS (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System), the jacket functions as the ultimate, outer, insulating layer for harsh conditions. Equipment includes a stowable hood and multiple pockets.
Climashield Apex Insulation and Outer Material
A lightweight synthetic insulation Climashield Apex with a weight of 100 g/m2 fills the jacket, providing excellent thermal comfort even during extreme cold. The insulation maintains its qualities even when wet, dries rapidly, and can be conveniently compressed into the provided compression sack. The jacket’s outer shell is constructed from 100% Nylon with a Rip-Stop weave, which enhances durability and resistance to abrasions and tearing. Additionally, the material is finished with a teflon coating, granting protection against light precipitation and dirt.
Spacious Pockets and Velcro-fastened Cuffs
The jacket features a total of 5 generously sized pockets:
- two fleece-lined chest pockets secured with YKK zippers, each containing dividers for a phone or compact electronic devices
- an internal pocket on the left chest area, equipped with a zipper closure
- two lower internal mesh pockets designed to promote airflow and aid in drying damp gear
Sleeves come with elastic cuffs that are Velcro-fastened and adjustable, allowing for a customized fit over varying amounts of layered clothing.
Stowable Hood, Velcro Panels, and Elastic Drawstrings
A fully adjustable hood compatible with helmets and hats is included with the jacket. The hood can be conveniently stored in the collar using a double zipper closure. The jacket is secured along its full length with a dual YKK zipper, enabling access to gear on a belt without needing to completely open the jacket. Velcro panels are located on the shoulders, making it easy to attach morale patches, insignias, or any preferred emblems. Elastic drawstrings with toggles are integrated at the hem to provide a snug fit and help minimize heat loss.

We ordered the Level 7 jacket in Alpha Green, and we were very impressed from the very first contact. The color looks very attractive in person, and the whole thing gives the impression of a really solidly and carefully made product. The jacket fits very well while not restricting movement, so you can easily wear additional layers underneath. Despite its good insulation, it is lightweight and does not feel overly bulky. The pockets are arranged practically, and the overall design clearly shows that functionality was a priority here. We have not yet had the opportunity to test it in very severe frost, so we cannot comment on that yet. In our use so far, however, it provides pleasant warmth and looks very promising as a winter jacket. So far, we are very satisfied with the cut, material, workmanship, and appearance. We recommend it with full confidence!

I really liked the Helikon-Tex Level 7 jacket as a warm layer for colder days. It is lightweight, while at the same time providing genuinely effective warmth, which you can feel immediately after stepping outside. It has a comfortable cut, does not restrict movement, and easily fits a fleece or thermal base layer underneath. The Shadow Grey color looks subdued and practical, which makes the jacket suitable not only for the outdoors but also for the city. What I like most is that despite its good insulation, it does not feel heavy or excessively bulky. The Climashield Apex insulation performs well in cold and damp conditions, and the jacket itself quickly provides thermal comfort. The pockets are functional, the zipper works flawlessly, and the hood effectively protects the head. In heavy rain, it is still worth having an additional membrane layer or a rain jacket, but for cold weather, wind, standing around at camp, or everyday wear in winter, it is a very good choice. I am satisfied with the purchase — the jacket seems solidly made and genuinely warm.

Great jacket! The best money I've ever spent. Very warm – it was perfect this winter. It's also comfortable and functional. It's durable – I used it while working in the forest – branches are no problem for it. In the mountains, it kept me warm during breaks. I recommend it!

The jacket is incredibly lightweight, yet it provides excellent warmth. It appears to be well-made, and the insulation keeps in heat very well even on damp days. The large pockets and hidden hood are very functional. Overall, I rate the price-to-quality ratio very highly.

Five stars, but with a small minus. An additional inner pocket with a zipper would be useful. This is already my second jacket like this, which speaks to its quality. The first one is tailored "to size," so not a lot fits underneath. This time, I bought a size larger so that, in line with its name, it would serve as another layer, and it performed excellently this winter. Big plus for Militaria, as I bought it on Sunday evening and by Monday morning it was already in the parcel locker.

The Helikon-Tex Level 7 Climashield Apex 100 g jacket is a very well-designed model that provides high thermal comfort while keeping the weight low. The Climashield Apex insulation effectively protects against the cold, while the jacket remains lightweight and does not restrict movement. The outer material provides good protection against wind and moisture, which is useful in more challenging weather conditions. The cut is comfortable and well-thought-out, and the placement of the pockets increases its functionality for daily use and in the field. The whole jacket is solidly and aesthetically made, with attention to detail. This is a very good choice for those looking for a warm yet lightweight technical jacket.

This is one of the best jackets in this category. I am very satisfied! The size is correct, not underestimated like with Chinese models. I definitely recommend it. The price is indeed high, but the jacket certainly deserves it.
-
Very comfortable and practical jacket. Worn alone and as a second layer under the M65 without a liner. During the current frosts (-10/15), it was enough to wear it alone with something thin underneath. Very practical drawstrings in the pockets – you can tighten the hood without taking your hands out. Comfortable to wear under a military rain jacket. After removing the Velcro, traces remain, but they are only visible up close (the Velcro bothered me under the jacket and on a daily basis). Worth the money.

Great, very well-made jacket. I bought the Flecktarn camouflage version and it works very well for nature photography. On the one hand, it's not the thickest jacket in the world, but on the other – with a fleece underneath and a warm undershirt, I could sit still for 2 hours at a perceived temperature of around -10°C. I haven't had a chance to test it in heavy rain yet, but a two-hour photographic 'ambush' in light snow with rain presented no problems at all. What I like most about it: the high, fleece-lined collar (practically no need for a neck gaiter/scarf) and the two-way zipper combined with internal pockets (perfect, for example, for taking out gloves). If it had 'vents' under the armpits (something very useful when hiking), it would be, in my opinion, the perfect jacket.

The jacket is light and at the same time warm. If you follow the rules of dressing and use it properly, it meets the expectations placed on it. It is warm and practical and seems solid. Unfortunately, the price is its biggest downside...
-
The jacket is warm and functional down to minus 5 degrees, with a short sleeve I only walk around the city. The zipper is a bit hard to fasten but otherwise everything is fine. I would buy it again.
-
The jacket is lightweight, warm, and made of high-quality materials, and it is very comfortable. I haven't noticed any flaws. It also comes with a compression sack, which makes carrying and storing it easier. The jacket has functional pockets and a hood hidden in the collar.

I am very satisfied with the purchase of this jacket. The jacket is comfortable, lightweight, and at the same time provides a lot of warmth. I had some difficulty choosing the right size because the manufacturer uses two systems: American and European, and this is not clearly described on the website. The size chart is similar to the American one. I am 176 cm tall and weigh 86 kg – size L was perfect for me (it corresponds to American size S). There is also the possibility to wear an additional layer, e.g. a fleece, under the jacket.

I bought the Helikon TEX Level 7 jacket. I have already used it on a frosty night at -7 degrees; I was wearing two layers – a T-shirt and this jacket. I felt warm, comfortable, and light. The jacket looks modern and fashionable. It is very ergonomically designed. I rate it 5 stars.
