Engineered for harsh winter environments, this Flecktarn camouflage jacket delivers exceptional insulation and protection against cold, even at extremely low temperatures. The advanced synthetic fill, Climashield Apex, maintains its insulating properties after exposure to moisture, while the exterior Rip-Stop weave fabric significantly increases resistance to tearing. Modeled after the ECWCS (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System), the jacket functions as the system’s outermost insulating barrier in extreme weather. Outfitted with a stowable hood and multiple practical pockets, the jacket is built for maximum utility and cold-weather performance.
Utilizing a lightweight synthetic insulation, Climashield Apex with a weight of 100 g/m2, the jacket provides reliable thermal protection even during extreme cold. This insulation maintains its performance even when wet, offers rapid drying, and compresses effortlessly into the supplied compression sack. Constructed with an outer shell of 100% Nylon featuring a Rip-Stop weave, the jacket delivers enhanced durability and resistance to abrasions and tearing. An additional teflon coating further protects against light precipitation and dirt.
The jacket offers a total of 5 generously sized pockets:
- Two fleece-lined, chest-level pockets secured with YKK zippers, featuring dividers for organizing a phone or compact electronic devices
- An internal pocket located on the left chest, equipped with a zipper closure
- Two internal lower mesh pockets designed to expedite the drying process for damp items
The jacket’s sleeves come with elastic cuffs that are both adjustable and secured with Velcro, enabling a customizable fit over multiple layers of clothing.
A fully adjustable hood designed for compatibility with helmets and hats is included with the jacket. The hood can be conveniently packed into the collar, which is secured by a double zipper. The jacket is equipped with a full-length dual YKK zipper, making it possible to access items on a belt without having to open the jacket entirely. Velcro panels are positioned on the shoulders to allow for the attachment of patches, emblems, or Morale Patches. Elastic drawstrings with toggles are located at the bottom hem to enhance the fit of the jacket and help retain body heat.
Flecktarn represents a renowned German military camouflage pattern, first officially adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1990. Characterized by clusters of small, irregular spots in five different shades—dark green, olive, brown, black, and beige—the pattern is engineered to break up the wearer's outline. The strategic arrangement of the numerous spots, together with the softened transitions between colors, enables Flecktarn to blend efficiently into wooded areas, shrublands, and among forest ground cover. Developed to meet the requirements of European environments, particularly the temperate zone, Flecktarn has remained a staple pattern for the German military and is also utilized by other armed forces and police units.
