Helikon-Tex US LVL 1 Black thermal underwear - set

Set of thermoactive underwear Helikon-Tex featuring a long-sleeved shirt and leggings. Designed for direct contact with the skin, this set forms the essential base layer of the U.S. Armed Forces uniform system ECWCS (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System). Constructed from lightweight, robust, and thermoactive Helikon-Tex Quick Dry fabric, the material ensures rapid moisture wicking from the body.

Thermoactive Quick Dry material

Designed from thermoactive fabric, the underwear set utilizes Helikon-Tex Quick Dry technology, made entirely from 100% polyester. The fabric rapidly dries and effectively wicks moisture away from the skin, ensuring optimal thermal regulation even during high-intensity activities. An advanced weave structure in the fibers expands the evaporation area. Perfectly compatible with additional layers of ECWCS or other thermoactive apparel, this set is ideal for both cold and transitional weather conditions.

Shaped shirt

Featuring long sleeves with thumb holes, the shirt ensures the sleeves remain securely in place during intense activity and provides additional warmth to the base of the hands. An extended back panel offers increased coverage, keeping the shirt from shifting upwards during squats and delivering enhanced protection for the lower back and kidneys against cold. Flat seams minimize the chance of skin irritation.

Fitted leggings

Leggings incorporate elastic cuffs at both the waist and ankles to ensure an optimal fit to the wearer’s body and help retain warmth. The design and fabric are engineered to preserve full range of motion. Outfitted with a traditional fly, the leggings also utilize flat seams to significantly reduce the likelihood of chafing.

The thermal underwear is very breathable and practically unnoticeable on the skin, yet it keeps warmth well and gives a sense of high quality. The size is consistent with the description. The seams are well-made; the product is worth its price. It does not restrict freedom of movement.

Great underwear, it insulates the body perfectly against heat loss and effectively wicks away moisture. The material could be more durable, then it would be practically perfect. I recommend this product to others.

Very pleasant to the touch. Warm. I recommend ordering a size longer because both the sleeves and legs are too short according to the size chart. On the big downside, it is not durable, it pills very quickly, and even the smallest snag, such as on velcro, damages the material. Helikon messed up when it comes to quality. This is yet another Helikon product where I complain about the quality of materials.

Compared to Mon's thermal underwear, it's like night and day. Helikon provides very good air circulation. With less effort, it works normally as a heating layer, and with more intense movement it starts to excellently wick away sweat and heat, ensuring great comfort. Additionally, it's super comfortable and does not restrict movement. Of course, you should remember that this is LVL1, so at temperatures closer to 0 degrees, you need additional warming layers. Here are combinations that worked for me: at around 5 degrees on a windy day - Helikon LVL1, a regular t-shirt, sweatshirt, and pants. While marching, I felt just fine, but I put on a gore-tex jacket during stops. at around -5 / -10 degrees in snow - Helikon LVL1, tracksuit, sweatshirt, and a light, thin down jacket were sufficient during moderate activity. In summary, whether used alone or in a thicker winter combination, Helikon performs excellently and doesn't cost a lot. Highly recommended.

The Helikon US LVL 1 Black thermal underwear set is perfect for evening walks with the dog in autumn and winter. It also works well on summer evenings. The only downside is that the stitching on the sleeves sometimes itches, and the long johns have too loose a fit.

A very positive purchase. The purchase itself is okay. However, when combined with the next level, it really starts to work well. Great at keeping warmth in and wicking away sweat. Unfortunately, some threads start to come out after a few weeks of use.

The price-to-quality ratio is very good, although there are sometimes discounts. The workmanship quality is fine, the material serves its purpose and dries really quickly. The size matches the size chart. Combined with LVL 2, it is warm in winter.

The underwear is fine, the size is also ok, but the packaging. Just regular bags, it was supposed to be for a gift, but I didn't get a box, and there's no mention of this in the description. The packaging should be nice. I have mixed feelings because of this.

Contrary to what others write, I'm 183 cm tall and weigh 74 kg, size M was too tight for me, which made it difficult to squat and caused discomfort under the armpits at the seams. The material is very thin, but it works well for cool days.

Comfortable and perfectly fulfills its function. Especially useful outdoors during winter training. Holds up well after many washes. Recommended. Helikon quality.

No need to elaborate. Helikon has proven more than once that it is top-notch and reliable. As a second layer I have a random level 2 polyester and a uniform is comfortable up to 9°C. You don’t feel the wind, removes moisture.

  12. Ł...

Comfortable, snug, wicks moisture, worth the price for a test, the thumb hole works so-so because you can feel as if it's about to tear, but overall it's ok.

I give it ten out of ten. Another set bought. You just have to be careful with the size, and in my opinion order a smaller one. 1.8m / 78kg and after buying M for the first time, the next ones are S and they fit better.

Comfortable, light, and quite warm. Provided enough warmth on a trail in Iceland in late August (about 10°C and almost 0°C at night). The big minus is the thumb holes, which are definitely too tight and dig into the skin due to the material. Had to cut them a bit for comfort and to avoid micro-injuries.

Very good set of thermal underwear. First-class quality as expected from Helikon. Interesting fiber weave. I am 183 cm tall, weigh 80 kg, and size M fits perfectly. Nothing pinches, there's some room left. Fits well to the body. The seams really don't chafe. For this price, a very good set. I recommend it with a clear conscience!
