Helle Polaris Fixed Blade Knife

Outdoor knife with an overall length of 160 mm and Full-Tang construction, meaning the tang of the blade extends through the entire handle. Helle Polaris is suitable for tasks like batoning wood.

14c28n stainless steel, satin finish

The blade is made of 14C28N stainless steel, which features good edge retention, high corrosion resistance, and is easy to resharpen. The blade is hardened to 59-60 HRC hardness and finished with a satin finish, giving it a semi-matte effect.

Drop-Point blade profile, Scandinavian grind

The blade measuring 81 mm in length and 3.1 mm in thickness features a Drop-Point profile, designed for maximum tip strength. This profile is particularly suitable for outdoor and EDC applications, where a combination of high penetration ability and optimal blade control is required. The model uses a Scandinavian grind (Scandi), providing increased resistance to damage.

wooden handle, brass rivets

The ergonomically shaped handle is made of Karelian birch wood, lacquered and secured with brass rivets. The lower part of the grip is properly contoured to prevent the hand from slipping onto the blade. The handle itself ends with a reinforced hole for threading a lanyard to prevent loss.

leather sheath

The set includes a sheath made from durable and robust black leather that allows for safe carrying of the knife on the belt.

14C28N feature
14C28N
14C28N is a martensitic "nitro" stainless steel developed by the Swedish company Sandvik (now Alleima). Its chemical composition has been optimized to achieve high hardness through nitrogen (0.11%) rather than carbon, which maintains corrosion resistance and increases edge durability. The carbon content of 0.62% contributes to good cutting properties, while chromium (14%) ensures high resistance to rust and oxidation. After proper heat treatment, the steel achieves a hardness of 55-62 HRC, which provides an optimal balance between sharpness, strength, and corrosion resistance. Thanks to its fine-grained structure and ease of sharpening, 14C28N is a popular choice for the production of kitchen, EDC, hunting, and tactical knives.
Satin feature
Satin
Satin finishing is one of the most popular blade finishes, achieved by grinding the steel with fine-grained abrasives. Parallel micro-scratches remain on the surface, giving the knife a technical, matte appearance. Satin finishing has both aesthetic and practical significance - a smoothed blade is easier to clean, and the slightly reduced friction promotes smoother cutting. Depending on the direction and intensity of polishing, different effects are achieved - from a matte finish to an almost mirror-like finish. Satin is valued in both utility and collector's knives because it emphasizes the structure and quality of the steel while maintaining functionality.
