Ka-Bar Combat Utility BK7 Fixed Blade Knife

Knife with a total length of 324 mm and a blade with a length of 178 mm and Clip-Point profile made from 1095 Cro-Van tool steel. The blade has a flat grind. The blade is covered with a black matte coating that protects against corrosion and reduces glare. The handle scales are made from damage-resistant and external factors resistant Ultramid in black. The set includes a holster made of damage-resistant polyester, featuring a Kydex insert.

This model was developed in collaboration with Ethan Becker. Ka-Bar has been manufacturing this collection since 2009.

1095 Cro-Van tool steel

1095 Cro-Van tool steel is characterized by high resistance to chipping, making it well-suited for knives intended for tougher fieldwork. The addition of chromium and vanadium improves hardenability, cutting edge stability, and wear resistance compared to classic 1095 steel. This material is easily resharpened and, with regular maintenance, provides very good service life of the blade.

blade with Clip-Point profile, flat grind

Blade length of 178 mm and thickness of 4.8 mm with a Clip-Point profile, designed for precise tasks. This profile is particularly useful in outdoor and EDC applications, where high penetration capability and optimal control over the edge are required.

The model features a flat grind that provides increased resistance to damage while maintaining good cutting performance. The blade surface is covered with a black matte coating that eliminates light reflections and protects the steel from external factors.

Handle scales made of Ultramid

The handle scales are made of Ultramid, a durable construction polyamide resistant to impacts, abrasion, and variable field conditions. The material provides a rigid, stable grip structure, and the handle profiling improves control over the knife during intensive work. Additionally, the handle is equipped with a steel cross guard to protect the hand from slipping onto the blade.

Sheath made of plastic

The set includes a sheath made from durable polyester, internally reinforced with Kydex material, providing additional stability. The design allows for secure attachment to a belt or equipment, making it effective for field and tactical applications.

Ka-Bar

Militaria.pl is a premium dealer of Ka-Bar.

Ka-Bar is a brand whose history dates back to the late 19th century, and which gained real fame during World War II, when the Fighting Utility model was officially adopted by the US Marine Corps. The durable and versatile knife quickly became legendary, proving itself both in combat and in the daily tasks of soldiers. The name Ka-Bar itself comes from the 1920s, when a trapper described in a letter how he managed to “kill a bear” with a Union Cutlery knife. In 1952, wanting to emphasize the power of this symbol, the company officially changed its name to Ka-Bar Knives Inc., and its products are still considered a model of reliability today. An important chapter in the brand's history is also its collaboration with Ethan Becker, which resulted in the Becker series, highly valued by users, combining practical solutions with a modern approach to knife design.

1095 Cro-Van feature
1095 Cro-Van
1095 Cro-Van steel is an improved version of classic 1095 steel, with increased wear resistance and improved edge durability. Its carbon content of 0.95-1.1% gives it high hardness (58-60 HRC), making it ideal for the production of survival, tactical, and outdoor knives. The steel also contains chromium (0.4-0.6%), molybdenum (up to 0.06%), vanadium (0.15-0.25%), manganese (0.3-0.5%), and silicon (0.15-0.25%), which contribute to its abrasion resistance and improved edge stability. Although it has low corrosion resistance, it requires proper maintenance in humid environments. Thanks to its optimal combination of hardness, blade durability, and moderate corrosion resistance, it is a popular choice among enthusiasts of knives for intensive use.
Kydex feature
Kydex
Kydex is a thermoplastic, durable material commonly used in the production of knife sheaths. It is resistant to impact, scratches, and changing weather conditions, and has very low moisture absorption. The sheaths are molded directly onto the knife, which guarantees a perfect fit, high durability, and complete safety—the blade remains securely in place even during dynamic movements. Due to its durability and customization options, Kydex has gained popularity in the tactical and survival industries. Sheaths are often equipped with additional mounting holes with metal eyelets, which increase their durability and allow for easy attachment of buckles, clips, or loops to a belt or harness.
Ultramid feature
Ultramid
Knives with handles made of Ultramid are lightweight, highly durable, and dimensionally stable even under intensive use. This polyamide from BASF is resistant to impact, abrasion, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations. Available in versions modified with glass fiber, carbon fiber, or mineral additives, it provides even greater rigidity and heat resistance. Thanks to its injection molding and machining capabilities, it allows for the precise manufacture of handles with a secure grip, durable fastening of metal elements, and an aesthetic finish.

Knife used for over a year outdoors. One of the best I've had. Great quality, very durable steel and easy to sharpen. It works for both chopping branches and for precise cutting or filleting. The only drawback is the sheath, from which the knife often falls out. Besides that, it's excellent. I recommend it.

The knife impresses, a solid piece of good blade.

A great knife, but for "precision" tasks, I recommend buying the Ka-Bar Becker Remora BK13CP (7897) SP. In my humble opinion, it suits these tasks perfectly and fits in the sheath under the compartment for a sharpener or firesteel (whichever you prefer).

An excellent, sturdy knife for many years, if not for life. Lightweight, fits perfectly in the hand. As befits the Kabar brand, it's as sharp as a razor—you can shave with it. In my opinion, thanks to its durability and lightness, it works great as a bushcraft knife, but it also has characteristics of a combat knife. Almost universal, excellently crafted knife. If I had to mention any drawbacks, the handle is a bit slippery. However, you just need to wrap it with tape. The knife is worth its price. I recommend it.

Great knife. Combat and survival. I recommend it. Steel is better than in the Esse5.

As someone already said, it's a beast ;) The only thing you could complain about is the sheath—it could at least be like the one from the BK2, but it still works.

Despite processing a good amount of wood, the previously sharpened knife did not lose any sharpness. To test, I tried to use it for striking as a sparker, and it left no trace either. The anti-corrosion coating seems removable only with a file, or if someone wants to dig in stones. In summary: EXCELLENT! Probably a knife for a lifetime. I only want to change the sheath to one entirely made of rigid plastic. Highly recommend.

And the superlatives never end... Simply AWESOME. The thing is big, but for me it's optimal—BK9 would probably be too large and unwieldy. Splitting, carving, batoning dry beech sticks with a 10 cm diameter is a breeze, and it handles large linden logs easily as well. I work in work gloves and it fits really well in the hand; well balanced, very ergonomic and secure Full-Tang handle. However, I think that without gloves, extended use might tire your hand.

Since the knife is not cheap and it hits the wallet a bit, I didn't want to write a review without proper field tests. The knife is big, so you need a big sheath for it, but the manufacturer could have saved some length by arranging the eyelets differently at the end. Unfortunately, the blade does not stay firmly in the plastic insert, so you absolutely have to fasten the strap on the handle. For small tasks, especially food preparation, it’s worth having something smaller. That’s about it for the product’s downsides.
