Katadyn Explorer Water Filter

Efficient manual water filter designed for water purification in demanding field conditions during long expeditions and stays at bases and camps for groups of 2 to 5 people. Equipped with a two-stage filtration system combining a ceramic microfiltration cartridge with a lifespan of up to 20,000 liters of water with a replaceable activated carbon module with a capacity of up to 500 liters. It enables safe collection of water from natural sources with varying degrees of clarity from murky to clear.

Water is purified using a manual pump that forces water through a two-stage filtration system. The system capacity is about 1 liter per minute, allowing efficient supply of drinking water without the need for specialist tools. The mechanical pumping system provides constant control over the purification process directly at the water collection point.

The first stage is a ceramic cartridge with a porosity of 0.2 microns which stops bacteria protozoa cysts microplastics and solid sediment. The ceramic cartridge can be cleaned repeatedly in field conditions, which restores flow and significantly extends its lifespan (up to 20,000 liters). The second stage consists of a replaceable activated carbon cartridge with a capacity of up to 500 liters, which reduces chemicals and chlorine and removes unwanted taste and odor. The filtering elements can be stored dry, which prevents mold from forming.

The device construction has been adapted for intensive use in demanding field conditions. It is equipped with a durable metal pump piston that guarantees mechanical resistance to loads during frequent water pumping. The modular design of the microfilter allows flexible adjustment of the device configuration to the level of contamination of the water source and facilitates ongoing use in the field.
